This may be really easy, but how do you change the oil as i have never done this and am due to change it soon. Or should i just take it to a garage?
Put drain bucket under sump with engine warm. Undo bolt. Drain oil. Put bolt back in. Swear at oil filter for a few minutes as you undo it. Replace filter.
Pour in some oil. Check level. pour in more until you are at the correct dip stick level. Run engine for a bit and check again.
If you are near reading you are welcome to pop over and I can show you.
Bill
Or the OJ approach:
1 - cut finger wich sterile knife, getting the inevitable injury out of the way, and so you can use a clean dressing, rather than forcing grit and oil into an open wound.
2 - Get car up on axle stands
3 - undo sump bolt. Scream as scalding oil runs past the nearly removed bolt, over arm and missing the oil collector.
4 - drag oil collector under the sump bolt, and remove bolt, being sure to drop it into the oil container.
5 - Having removed bolt from oil container, remove the oil filter, using first your hand, then a filter remover, and finally (once nothing else works), a hammer and strong screw driver.
6 - touch up the damaged paintwork where the screwdriver slipped.
7 - replace filter.
8 - re-replace filter with a third filter due to cross threading the first one.
9 - Start to pour 5 litres of GTX into the engine. Include approx 100ml over the engine due to sneezing, inacurate pouring and slipping on the oil.
10 - after 1 litre of oil, replace the sump bolt and mop up the litre of oil that has poured straight through the engine that you were slipping on causing you to miss pouring the oil in.
11 - lower car
12 - re-jack car to remove the oil collector
13 - lower car
14 - drink heavily.
Cheers for that mate.
Reading is a bit to far, im only in newbury bts costs me like £20 to get there and back.
Regards
whos OJ by the way
Well you need to drive the car to warm the oil up to drain it. I have ramps funnels, kitty litter to mop up the spills etc and all off road with no neighbours to annoy.
Offers there if you want it.

Bloody hell. I\'m quite offended!! Love me or hate me, you can\'t really ignore me! I reckon I must be the only person who has

PHER-YEW!!! I was feeling all unimportant and unloved then...
Don\'t forget to put a smearing of oil on the filter seal so it\'s easier to get off next time...
((Just making sure this little puppy of a post doesn\'t get removed... *grin*))

You can bring the car down my way if you like and I will show you how easy it is to do. 10 minute job on a ramp or pit, both of which I have!
I can show you 3 FD Rx7\'s which are in my yard at the moment as well!!
I\'m about 15 minutes from you down the A34.
Just bring some oil and a filter, because I\'m very tight. I\'ll provide the tea.

Maximumtaylor,
Do you know how to fit some electro lumiscent dials???
Hi Matt :)
Check other threads for details of recommended oils and the type of filter - this has been covered many times before!!!
The DB gauges are a doddle to fit, I\'ll show you when you pop down. Assuming you have somewhere to fit them!
Regards
Max
ok,
there not gauges there actually dials for the speedo and rev counter etc, i took apart the dash before but dont know how to wire them to the side lights as the face on the glows blue.
Oh dear :(
My knowledge of taking out the dash is rather limited as I have never done it....therefore dont know which wires to look for to go to where, if you follow!
Come on someone, help Matt out.
Regards
Max
ok thats cool mate,
so u gonna take me for a spin in your single turbo beast?
Sure will :)
Just need to map it first!!!!!
Hopefully next week, but it\'s tough finding the time at the moment.

Max
oh right, i need to get my fcon v mapped somewhere. what day is good to pop over
Replied by PM Matt.
does anyone know if i want to take the sump out...is it that i have to take the crossmember off???as it is impossible to undo the bolts unless the cross member is off...
sam
Jack just the engine up, and then you can get access to the sump bolts. why do you want to take the sump off?
Its easier that way, you can take the oil out in one, in a big bowl LOL :rollin
just that theres a very little oil leak from the sump i think is the seal from the oil sump, so is it just i need to jack up the engine then i can take the sump out???how long will it take??
