Title: Respraying and Bodykits..
Post by: RedRummy on February 26, 2006, 08:06:15 PM
Hi,

bit of a n00b question this...

I\'m looking for an RX with a specific type of body kit.... if I can\'t find one, and decide to buy the RX then the body kit separately, what are the chances of buying the kit in the right colour off the shelf... (black or maybe silver probably)

Do new body kits come pre painted?

cheers

I have not heard of a case where a body kit is pre-painted. You have to get it painted (as some fitting is usually required) seperately. I believe you might be able to get them primered, but not painted.

Unfortunatly it doesn\'t work like that.

99% of Aftermarket GRP kit have to be tweeked to make them fit properly, so it would make no sence to paint it before fitting.

ok, cool, so in that case I might as well ignore car body colour and factor in ~£1.5K for getting the whole thing sprayed...

for info, I\'m looking for a \'lightly tweaked\' 3rd Gen RX7, twin turbo in a nice MazdaSpeed body kit...    its not often they come along though...

been thinking I could just buy a fairly standard spec FD and fit the body kit later..

I don\'t know how it is in UK, but there are quite a bit of replica body kits here in the states. Most of the kits are FG replica and need pre-fitting and adjustments needs to be made before spraying.

My recommendation if you are to add the kits after purchasing your car, you should make sure it fits perfect before spraying with paint.

//www.raceonusa.com seems to have quite a good selection and lots of CF. Got pointed at them by a friend in the US who\'s insistant that I get CW headlights for some reason.
