Title: Mapping Query
Post by: Icesurf3r on February 24, 2006, 04:46:57 PM
OK this one may best be answered by tuners and/or vendors.. But all advice is welcome.

When i pick my RX up (hopefully next saturday) I\'m popping straight over to Re:worx to have it mapped.

Now i\'m running a T88 single(with all other appropriate mods) on a newly ported engine, and using a Profec B to control the boost.  When i have it mapped is it possible to map it 1.2Bar using race fuel (to keep the knock readings down) and then use the Profec B to keep the boost at 0.8 BAR(low setting) and 1 Bar (high setting) for using pump fuel, while i\'m waiting to get W.I??

Also once i have the water injection fitted, can i just adjust the Profec B so low boost is set to 1 Bar and High boost is set to 1.2 Bar, or will it need a complete re-map again???  :3Confused

If I remember right the Profec B will have two settings you havee quoted 3 figures, or are you talking wategate plus 2 on profec.
If so the waste gate on its onw may not be a reliable source as it can allow spikes, the profec is very good and would recommend having on at all times so then you could map it for 2 pressures, it would not matter what fuel as long as you remember not to switch without correct fuel. I would for safety sake have it remapped once water is added, but youre probably better off asking Reworx as they are mapping it.

I can give you the numbers to set them however you like when you leave tomorrow. I\'ll show you how to adjust it :)

Gary: I already have the Profec B fitted. Wanted to map the car to 1.2 BAR on race fuel, but use the 2 settings on the Profec B to keep the boost at 0.8 BAR(low setting) and 1.0 BAR (high setting) until i get water injection fitted. Then just wanted to know once water injection is fitted is it just a matter of adjusting the dials on the Profec B to set the boodt to 1.0 BAR (low setting) and 1.2 BAR (high setting) as it would have already been mapped to 1.2 bar previously.

Max: It\'s next saturday 4th March, but i will certainly be picking your brains while i\'m there lol. Would there be any objection to getting some short video clips of it while its on the rollers???

You don\'t need race fuel for 1.2 bar that can be mapped no problem on pump fuel. .8 bar on a t88 ported engine is a waste of time really.
Profec b will do what ever you tell it to so you don\'t need to worry about needing a remap afterwards.

Sounds like this could be an interesting (read: powerful) tuning session scott, I\'m definately still up for coming along for the crack if thats ok? I\'ll even hold the camera if you want...

Hey Dan, No worries.. We can pop by yours on the way through lol....Be good to see you there, after all if it wasn\'t for you this wouldn\'t be happening .

Brian: Just my missinterpretation then, but i was under the impression that you needed water injection for anything over 1 bar??

It\'s not a guarentee - it would depend on your setup, and fuelling.

OK i have a supra or skyline pump cant remember which, and 850cc injectors on primary and secondary, additional injectors are TII injectors, so not entirley sure what size they are.
