Post by: Matt on September 29, 2003, 09:07:37 AM
Whilst someone was looking at my engine bay, they said theat the airboxes have been removed and a pully kit has been fitted.

He said that it pumps water round the engine to cool it, but i dont really understand what it does and the benifit, could someone please tell me.

Many thanks

The kit will have a bigger water pump pulley - which means the water pump will turn slower than with the stock pulley at a given engine rpm. This is meant to prevent the pump cavitating (which reduces coolant pumping efficiency) when the motor is pulling high rpm\'s...

A pulley kit is usually installed when the air pump (and probably the cat) has been removed. The alternator pulley\'s are some times replaced with slightly larger items too.
