Here she is, in her new guise :)
Now has Garrett GT3540 kit
Electric water pump and Aquamist
Boy, is she quick!!!!
Noticeably quicker that she was in 360 bhp twin form..
Here\'s a little piccy

Max
Whats happened to the water pump?
Big thanks to Chris at ReWorx who did all the work - good man :)
Regards
Max
Good to hear you\'ve got it back Max :) by the sounds of things it is slightly ;) quick now :D
Be sure to get it on some rollers to get some pub talk figures for Dan :D
Great stuff Max! Santa Pod here we come eh!
.ps What ECU again?
Apexi..... :3gears-rh
Dan
I think that may be the fullest single turbo I\'ve seen - and the highest I\'ve seen the turbo mounted... Is there a reason for this??
Cheers
OJ
So it fits?
Looks very nice and Tidy, I saw a skyline\'s RB26 engine with a single conversion the other day, it does make the bay sooo much tidier.
Do you mind me asking how much the single turbo converstion costs?
Many thanks
Dave :)
So you are using a FMIC, Did you have to move the position of the Rad?
Max, in the picture you have an earthing system added. Where do the connections go?
I have mine to the top middle nut on the inlet manifold, the alternator, the starter motor all being 8 gauge cable. And a 4 gauge to the top suspension strut.
I am going to put one on the rear join on the exhuast to the body.
Another question, what size jet are you running in the water injection?
Dan
ooo ooo ooo! Questions questions :)
What sort of boost are you running that requires detionation protection? (WI)
Dave :) :wave
I know that the optium boost for the GT35/40 is about 18-20psi, so god knows what boost Mr Taylor is running that requires WI!!
Yes WI is one of the best ways to control DET, but it also cools the intake temps so well.
My guess is that even with a front mount the intake temps are still high when boosting.
Dan
Questions, questions questions ;)
Blitzboy: Apexi Intercooler means that the stock rad sits more upright than normal.
Dave: kit was about £2000 ish, plus fitting
Fish: Connections go to passenger side wing, rear bulkhead, plenum, throttle mechanism, forgotten......I\'m running the biggest jet that the kit came with which is the 0.7mm jet. Think its about 300ish ml/min on the race pump.
Dave/Blitzboy Aquamist will be running just as a safety measure to start with and I am running 1.0 bar boost.
I know whats needed to go safely higher, just need to get plans in motion for running more boost with engine reliability.
Need more Octane!!!!!!!!!
Regards
Max
ahh So you running the standard spring rate in the actuactor that the kit comes with, so what boost controller will you be using?
I hope you are coming to Pod luv to check out your car
Thanks for the reply mate.
INteresting, so currently running about 1 bar, have you tried running with the WI off? Its just that I have seen applications where the wi losses power due to the water not atomising completely and cauing slight boggin?
Although this was on a piston engine and not a rotary :)
So would you say the 2000 + fitting is justified? do you now have a rather large grin when you set the rotors spinning?
Dave :)
Just trying to get a mental "shopping list" for when I get my RX7 :)

Not sure whether Max had the 7 or 15psi spring in the turbosmart when it arrived? But he\'s using the Power FC boost control kit any way...
The Apexi boost kit with 3 bar map sensor should be good for 2.2 bar in theory!
Don\'t think I\'ll go that far tho, don\'t fancy doing an OJ on rebuilds ;)
Don\'t know what spring is in the wastegate - does this dictate the lowest boost you can have???
Still waiting for the Tank for my Aquamist from a certain moderator of this forum *nudge, nudge* so can\'t say exactly how it will work in practice. Should be of benefit, as I have calculated that my intake temps at one bar with front mount and aquamist will be below ambient :)
This should make a remarkable improvement in all weathers. I think that if you go beyond the recommended 25% max water to fuel ratio, you will hinder performance. Mine should be about 10% at 6k revs by my reckoning.
I also have sourced a huge stash of methanol which I will premix in the water tank at up to 50:50 mix.
On a side note, the electric water pump means that the cold start wax thingy which activates high revs no longer has water passing through it, so I am going to butcher the cold start to not cut in any more. It\'s only there for emissions anyway.....
Was it worth the money????
Got my answer within 5 minutes on the M27 yesterday!!!
Hell yeah!!!! Much quicker and much much smoother power delivery.
Regards
Max
yes it does dictate whats the lowest boost setting it can have.
Oh yeah what injectors u running?
Stock primaries and 1300 secondaries. Needs mapping, which I will do this week - should be running about 80-85% injector duty once mapped as opposed to 75% which it was with the twin turbo\'s/unported. That much more air flow through the engine now :)

Max

Fantastic :) Better start budgeting for a single turbo conversion then :)
Your underbonnet shot looks great :) Almost as clean as my engine ;) But a little less cluttered :)
Soon to be a rotary :)
jeez - don\'t ever fall in that engine bay, you\'ll never get out... You sure there\'s an engine in there somewhere??
He he he, yup and mines had alot of stuff taken out :) to make it look less cluttered :rollin :rollin
So that\'s where all the blue samco hosing went to....
You do realise you have caused a uk shortage of the stuff ;)
Yeah, I don\'t do clean - so long as it works it\'s good enough for me. For now at least.:rollin
It might be something for me to do in winter?
Regards
Max

he he he, Yes there is a fair bit in there, I should really be sponsered by samco :) Although the home made FMIC took most of the samco\'s :)
Really?? I\'ve never seen a samco intercooler - most of them are alloy of some kind... Intruiging...
what?
Forge front mount, home made pipe run from turbo -> intercooler -> carb top. I love the look and reliability gained with a front mount, I\'d love one on an RX7 :)

Adding WI to a car that doesnt have a prog. ECU will loose power. I wonder if this would be the case on an FD as they run so hot on the intake temps! On stock twins and IC I am seeing temps of 30-35C whilst cruising, and going up in to the high 60\'s when at 5psi boost.
I am going to play with various size jets, as reading some of the US forums they have also been playing with the ERL kits a lot this summer, and they are going up to a 1mm jet.
As for the atomosation, the ERL jets/pump do not have any problems. Just remove the jet, trigger it to start pumping and let it spray on to your arm. You shouldnt feel the water hitting your arm as it will be that fine, but within 15 seconds you will have goose bumps.
Dan
Funny you mention it Fish, but I had already ordered a 1mm jet the other day, just in case 0.7 wasn\'t man enough!! In theory it should be, but who knows!

Max
That\'s not a baby, that\'s a monster.....!
Very Cool car Max! ;)
Best Wishes,
