I thought I would start a thread of gauge pods and what gauges you have fitted in them.
I have two pods. The main one replacing the centre speaker on the dash, and the other replacing the steering column top cover.
I have two SPA gauges in the centre pod, measuring oil pressure (top) and oil temp(bottom) on the left, and inlet temp (top) and EGT (bottom) on the right.

The RE pod just has a little old boost gauge.

Hi Dan,
I have only Boost gauge installed on my German FD. I\'m waiting for an offer for gauge pods for my Jap. imported FD. I think about to mount this on the A-pilar or for a one that will fit the standart radio DIN slot.
I think for oiltemp, watertemp, and boost gauges.
Where did you connected the sensors for your gauges? FC has a oiltempsensor on the same sensor that check the oillevel, but FD don\'t have one, (there is no wire from the sensor, only one for oillevel). Can you plesse make some pics of your sensors?
Thanks and REgards
Iwan
PS. Nice US speedo :o)
Good god he\'s got a full tank of petrol as well..............
Iwan, I fitted a take off/sandwich plate that I have had siting around for the last couple of years, and had fitted the oil press./temp sensors in that. As for the intake temp sensor, I am using a K type sensor from RS components in the rubber hose from the intercooler.
I know that this is not the best place, but it is only temp. as I have a front mount to be fitted, so it will be fitted properly then.
As for the EGT, this will be connected up when I either a) take the downpipe off again, or b) go single turbo.
Your best place for pods would be USA, as they like you use the wrong side of the car for driving in. ;)
John, mine sometimes gets that full tank feeling. But by the time I get home again its requesting more. :D
Dan
hi Dan,
Thanks for the info! I think I will need to go for sandwich to.
no I\'m driving on the right side:
look here:
PS. looking for an ofer for my Japan import, not for the another......
Hi all ,
l have been looking for either a good pillar pod mount for Iwan that will be a proper direct replacement fit
Or a panel to take 52mm gauges and fit under where the radio goes .
As well as the various companies including Blitz (Japan) l have contacted plus help from Danny and FDUK l have failed miserably trying to find good fitting Gauge mounts for Iwan can anyone help ?
l see you say you have a boost gauge next would fit a water temp gauge as the stock one is very inacurate and then for your oil temp gauge the simple way of fitting the sender is to take out the blank bung in an oil cooler and drill and tap it.
All the best Clive

I presume u tried Chris at HyperSR?
You probably know the story - its reared its head a few times over the last year or two - but he was going to do a \'proper\' FD A pillar pod...
R.
Hello guys.
Who makes these center speaker pods? Are these 52 or 60mm?
Rich, the last time I spoke with Chris earlier in the year (at one of the shows) they hadnt got any further with it.
But could be worth a try.

Rich, do you have URL for me ?
Iwan

Even with these being bright red, I think that they are to far out of peripheral eye sight. OK the only real time you use gauges is when tuning/mapping, and as you would have someone with you to monitor these things, its not that bad.

Thank you very much m8y !
thats exactly what I\'m looking for.
but :
"Mazda RX7 FD3 - Soon!"
hmm.... will drop an email.
Yeah, as Dan said its still probably \'coming soon\'...
We were all set to get Chris a donor a-pillar with which to me a mold up with about 18 months ago+ The pillar from my car was gonna be used at one point but I proceeded to write the car off soon after. Not sure what happened after that but the FD pillar never got made.
You\'d probably have to guarantee a few sales in order to make it worth his while I\'d imagine. Also - are you wanting the pillar pod for a RHD or LHD car??
R.
RHD, Iwan has a Jap import.
Dan
But he said he was selling the Import didnt he?
Here is a picture of a pod that sits in the bottom of the A pillar.

Rich, the pod is for my Jap. Import. I\'m goint to sell my German FD. You have seen my German FD, but the Jap. one is one of the best I have seen... Also, its good for business :o)
Here in Germany, there is no problems any more to me to drive RHD car. People are looking at you while driving the car, like you would driving (flying) an UFO... funny thing.
I have some problems with German TÜV (SVA in UK) but will sort them in near future.
What size dials do the centre pod fit 52mm or 60mm
Thanks,
Tom
centre pod takes 52 mm gauges, but with a bit of DIY work can be bored out to 60mm (done this mine and wasnt too taxing),
heres a link showing how:

Tom, you also have these (http://hometown.aol.com/flyrx7/Rx7-Gauge-Pod.html) pods. They sit closer to the dash, but still look very nice. There is one FD in the south that has it fitted. If they are at the AGM I will take a picture and post it up.
Dan
This might be a silly question, but does the speaker still work.
Im assuming its just muffled, but the I guess it might be removed to make space for the pod and wiring?
Cheers
Lee
Had to take mine out to make room, but didnt look like it was up to much anyway :)
Hi Dan,
Here is a photo of my triple pod with Defi Gauges, you are welcome to take better photos on Sunday. The gauges are water temp, oil temp & boost. The Defi controller is in the bottom DIN below my stereo. Pod from Flyrx7 as per your link. Defi kit from Nito at //www.defi-shop.co.uk , Nito installed the controller, gauges, wiring through to engine bay and hooked up the boost gauge. Water & Oil sensors installed by //www.reworx.co.uk
Lee - I left the centre speaker installed and working, don\'t notice any distortion but I never noticed that speaker much anyway. No noticable problems with magnet from speaker interfering with gauges either. There is room to feed cable up past the speaker but it is tight, advantage of a link system is you only need to feed one cable for the 3 gauges.
Kevin
Kevin, thanks for that.
I also removed the speaker as I dont think it works with aftermarket stereo\'s, only with those Bose systems.
Dan
ooo i really like the look of that 3 pod jobbie, can they be got in the uk?
Daneh, they will ship to the UK without any hassel.
Dan
Kevint
Nice defi gauges !
