I get a red light flash a few times then stay off every so often on the LHS of my dash.
My coolant is only at 82degrees at this point usually.
Is it something to do with engine/coolant temp or is it something to do with my heater system (which does make a few rattling noises occasionally)?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

if it is the heat warning/cat light it all depends how ur car is set up.the apexi uses this to warn of poss det.with standard ecu it can mean problems with ur cat.abnormal engine noise can also activate this.post any mods u have to ur car to give a better idea
Yep as above, standard ecu means cat overheat, or with an apexi it\'s a sensor warning (out of range), or injector overload (not lad), or relatively high knock. Plus could even be a faulty cat sensor, mine got pulled out the car by something in the road and dragged along under the car flickering the light on and off whilst i was taking my ex on a 3am airport run and thus both of us wondering if we were ever going to make it, until i got back and found the problem :) If you\'ve got no cat then under the drivers seat toward the tunnel is a large hole with rubber bung, pull that and solder the two wires together.
Cheers for the info
RX7Veilside - engine type mods include: Apeci ECU, full de-cat system (Blitz Nur Spec R), port & polish, Apexi twin ind kit - 320brake.
By the sounds of it the exhaust (very loud) or another unusual noise could be the source and there is nothing major to worry about.
Thanks again,

Sorry but I doubt that. Check the Apexi ECU with a Commander if you have one, look in -off the top of my head- sensor sw and make sure nothing\'s highlighted. If nothing there then go for a drive and set it to 8channel and push peak hold and see if knock or injector duty goes sky high at any time. If you\'ve been decatted then look under the car and make sure the cat overheat sensor is okay, not damaged, or like i said just solder the wires together (snip the wires under the seat leading to the large bung). Seriously.. check it out bigtime :)
.. happy to be corrected though obviously :)
if it is flashing when off boost then i am led to blve this could be engine noise/electrical pick up as the sensor works on approx .1v signal...if it has happened while on boost then that is different and needs checking out..if apexi has been mapped correctly u shld not get knock on boost..what inj duty cycle are u hitting when on boost
Getting MOT at WGT shortly - will get them to give it the once over
Thanks again
