does any one use their RX7s as a daily drive car. If so how do you find it petrol and reliability etc?

In a few word... Yes, expensive, prefectly fine!!

as long as you buy a good one with prefferably a rebuilt engine and keep it very well serviced there should not be any problem at all with using it as a daily drive.. it WILL be expensive though.

Rob. :)

I used to use mine as a daily driver and really enjoyed it. BUT on rainy or icy days it can be a handful.

Yes it does hit you in the pocket but it also puts a big smile on your face every day. As for reliability mines had a new engine so its fine, just be careful about flooding.

I like 10 miles from work and use it every day - no problems now it\'s been rebuilt, but plenty of problems beforehand - about one major issue every 2 months.

I get about 13mpg, but like someone just said, you get a smile all the way home. If you have a stressful job, it\'s a must!!

V important to get a decent engine!!

Enjoy

Me too, it\'s my only car an have done 14k in the first year i\'ve had it. a couple of problems, but nothing major you wouldn\'t expect from a 14 year old car, old vac pipes cracking an stuff like that. But It does hit you hard, I use between £40 - £70 / week in optimax depending on how i drive it.

But I couldn\'t drive to work in the morning knowing I had my rex sat on the driveway  :D

Mines a daily drive. I use about a full tank of optimax every 2 weeks so it\'s not that bad. I figure what\'s the point in having a car like that if you\'re not going to use it much.  :Thumbs-up

Use a near stock, twin turbo FD for daily usage. No problems and very reliable. :)

man.. I drive 100+ miles *a day* to get to work... a full tank of UL lasts me 4 days in my GTi...

I\'ve been watching these forumas for the last year or so, doing my research before buying an RX...

Still gonna get one, but jeez, this is gonna cost, right?

I wouldn\'t use it as my daily drive commuting the 100+ miles to work (i\'d have to put up with the girlfriends VW Polo ;), but I\'d wanna drive it a lot!

But hey, I\'m thinking, if I\'m gonna do this and buy a *real* car, then I\'d better hurry up and do it!!   Already got the mortgage etc, marriage and kids is the only next step, so I\'d best be quick!!  :DD

Regular drive for 8 years...average full tank is 190miles(50 squid approx).
RX7 problems;
1. The original engines life span-60,000 estimate
2. Upgrading it will create niggly extra hassles (i.e. single turbo etc.)
3. Once the above are conquered, it becomes a second skin of love, or..you sell it!
I\'d rather donate my FD to a Rotary museum than sell it. :guinness

Have used mine as a daily drive since I got her. Never given me any prob\'s what so ever.

I do around 100 - 200 miles a week and put about £30 - £60 a week in.

It really depends how you drive as to what MPG you get, I have gone through a tank in a matter of hours on a Big Game weekend before! But it\'s well worth it!
