just installed a innovate wide band afr gge and lc1
on idle afr is 11.8 when on idle enrichment and settles to 12.0 when warm and on idle..car has 550 primary/1600 secondaries and is street ported..just wondering whether this could be leaned out a bit on idle as seems a bit rich.using apexi can u lean out the idle and cruise cells without leaning out the on boost area..(i wont be doing it i hasten to add just in case someone thinks i know what i am talking about)..i thought idle afr shd be around the 14.0 area or s this just for a piston car
If you join the club we\'ll tell you! Judging by the number of post\'s you have you are not exactly a casual user.

Carl
Nice call Carl
Yes you can lean it out to idle at 14.0 without affecting the other cells, using the apexi.
thanks brian for the info..i know i should join but i also frequent passionford.com/scoobynet/supra owners/rx7club.com/nopistons.com/turbosport.com/bbs.rsowners.com plus a few others as i am a car fanatic first and rotary owner second
I think you will find around 12 is the best for a smooth idle. If you aim for 14 idle will suffer.
I have uploaded the Mazda target mixture map (taken from the Datalogit site) and you will see there is only a small cruise area that the have 1\'s which is Theoretical 14.7

interesting how did the rx7 ever pass emmissions as i only have standard 550 in my primaries which give co reading of approx 6.0% that leaves an awful lot of work for a cat to clean up which is why i thought standard rx7 must have a leaner idle

Two words... Air and Pump ;)
Paul :p
I get a basic idle of 12:1 afr on 850cc primaries. It would seem that you can remove some fuel from the cruise areas of the fuel map. But i have found this to make the car harder to drive and a bit jerky for my liking.

Why do people keep coming out with this non member predujice on this forum when at least 70% of all posts that are here to help each other came from the (non members) in the first place. Including me! :flamed

Well I guess that it has something to do with the fact that this is a club.
It is based on people paying to be members.
It is not a prejudice, just seems that there are alot of freeloaders on here.
This will be tidied up very soon,so there will no longer be a problem anyway.
The amount it cost\'s to be a member has got to be worth it just for all of the money people save on advice.
It is a pity that the non members do not appreciate one simple fact, this club and forum is not free,
it is paid for by the paying membersSo why should all of those paying sell themselves out with good info to those not paying?
Regards
Carl
but all the other forums are open and free this is the only one where membership seems to be an issue.now i agree the 25.00 is not a lot of money but if i had to join every forum i wld be paying about 300.00 a year.i dont consider myself a freeloader as if i can offer any help or advice over something that has happened to me then i do.thats what i thought the forum was for..i can only assume this is going to become a members only club soon by what carl has said.i hope it doesnt destroy itself in the process.i have never seen this become an issue on other forums..just tallied up and i am a poster on 12 other forums from fords to subarus/toyota/v8s but i drive a rotary and if there was some info i could pass on to a ford/subaru owner ect thru the forum then i would be happy to do so

Why didn\'t this happen from day 1 then? Would of saved a lot of bitching, wouldn\'t it.
Basically though the paying members get discounts for entry to events and vendor/insurance discounts etc and non members don\'t. Kind of evens up in the end though doesn\'t it? :wave
Many other clubs have this policy.
Someone like you Royston and you RX7 veilside would obviously be an asset to the club,so why not join?

As Carl says the club is not free to run the very forum software your using and ISP are not free. But the benefits of joining far out way the £25 membership fee, discounts that are available to members include discount on AA and RAC membership a number of insurance companies give a discount for club members some of the dealers also discount for members, vendors on the site give member discounts, thats before we start with the free/subsidised meets, discounted trackdays, isle of man weekend etc etc. Do any of your free to join clubs give you this?
Regards Kevin
I just joined but it still says non member under my name. How long does it take before it changes and will it automatically join via my user name ( royston1xx) or do i have to set it up?
I\'ll find out and get back to you.
Kevin
What a load of crap. I thought this was a club for people with like passions for all things rotary. We share info & experiences have a laugh and a joke.
Atleast that\'s what I was led to believe
at the end of the day, where else can u get all those discounts, a FREE day at Brooklands, a Car Show run and payed for by a club that membership only costs £25??

I\'m with you Brian, but you will never make some people see your point of view as they are far to far up there own arses.jk
Why do you guys pay the £25 then bitch about it, if you are so worried about it don\'t pay it
Enjoy the forum like the rest of us!

Hang on
Non members accept the forum isn\'t free - right
So whats your policy - let some other mug pay for it, I\'m just going to use it and sod the rest of you..................................
I want the club to grow and be a lot more than a \'free\' forum, rather an event [RS111]
club that makes things happen - guess what, to achieve this you need money.
I\'ll open another can of worms - I don\'t think non members should be allowed to show off their cars on the \'club\' stand at \'club\' events.
Don\'t worry I was voted down on that one.
I see no argument for ppl with 100\'s of posts thinking they \'contribute\' to the club, the way to make this club a rotary \'force\' is, imo, with a huge paid up membership.
These are just a \'members\' views.

AMAZING! A vendor who is not supporting the very club that he is a paid up vendor of!
Pretty strong feelings you have there, maybe you should have voiced them at the AGM.

metaphoric answers like that give us all ray of hope!

The forum isn\'t here to support the club, the forum is here to support people who own rotary engined cars. Someone owns a rotary has a question it gets answered simple. That might be a problem for you but it\'s not a problem for me. Will I have my membership revoked because I answered a non members question? grow up and stop being so petty.
I was thinking of joining but now i\'m not sure with all this bitching ! I agree with a few points but i should not feel bullied into joining the club. yes , i have had some advice from here but today I got some free advice over the phone from a FRIENDLY rotory specialist which helped get my car back on the road also i have tried to join in with some threads only to be ignored, is this becouse i\'m a non-member if I join will every post get an answer ? I enjoy comeing on here as it always seamed friendly but the whole time i\'ve been here has there been an under lying resent to me not being a paid up member ?
Yas Brian but..............................
Would you set up, run, administer, update your own forum, paying for it as well, where you just sat there giving free help and advice to anyone.
That wouldn\'t help your business grow. If I\'m wrong perhaps it\'s worth trying.
To follow your thoughts, if there were no paying members there would be no forum for you to advertise on. So if we were all to become non members, you would loose.
Would someone give me a list of good reasons why it should be free to us all, if I\'m convinved I\'ll join your club of non members.
John
Stick around as there are alot of good guys on here, that will help you out, even some of the tuners as you have found are very forth coming with help, it\'s just finding the right ones.

John I been on here a while now. I Think for the first 2 yeras or so I was on here I was a non member providing help and advise to other forum members. I didn\'t see the need to join at the time but eventually I did. When I did joijn it was my choice, no one condemned me, I wasn\'t made to feel like I owned a piston trying be part of a rotary group neither was I made to feel like a cat tring to a get a job in fish bowl. You get my point? There are way and mean of getting or encouraging people to become full members on this club and being rude, arrogant and petty are no t the most recommended.
I do tend to agree with Brian on this one, The web based forum and the club in my view are two seperate things , and I like to help members and non members alike.
The club part in my view is the discounts and the club meetings which the non memebers dont benefit from , if they want to then they can join
Hi all,
Have to say that I agree with many points from both sides of the fence.
I don\'t want people to feel forced into joining, at the same time - we are building a club, and hopefully everyone is starting to see that we are getting somewhere with it. It does take money to run things, and takes money to put on events etc.
We have come a long way, and it is thanks to all of you that have contributed in one way or another. Hopefully, those who have been on the forum for some time as a non-member will see the benefits in joining (Brian is a great example).
This year should be a great year for the club, we are now in a position to start subsidising track days, and I want to take it as far as hiring a Drag Strip exclusively for MRC only - these things do take money to make happen. AND TIME!!! :)
We can try and keep pushing the benefits to everyone, like the Track Afternoon at Brands on the 11th. You will see that, if you join the club you virtually will get your money back straight away by attending this event.
Again - I personally don\'t want to see people being pressured into joining, but more of - looking at the benefits of joining the club.
We will be making changes to the Forum and its access in the near future, as voted on by everyone who attended the AGM. This is not in an effort to (excuse my Australian!) \'to p i s s people off\' but to make this club into one of the best Rotary Clubs in the world. We are almost there now.
Peace guys!
.ps rx7veilside - hopefully you got an answer on your post.
This is not just a rotary forum like Ausrotary.
This is the mazda rotary CLUB forum. It is not a seperate entity, but rather an extension and part of the CLUBthat members pay for.
I think that say\'s it all really.
Regards
Carl
Oh,
And at the AGM it was decided unanimously that there would be changes on the CLUB forum that would encourage non members to join. The details will be apparent very soon I am sure.
Regards
Carl
My point of view is quite simple really,
If you want to be a part of a very friendly active club then join and get the benefits.
If you do not want to be a active member but want advice then continue to do so i have no problem with that.
I joined as i like being a active member and making a difference, was not forced but decided to join to belong to possibly the friendliest club out there at the mo.
Short circuit - dude you wont be ignored if you are a non-member, perhaps no-one had a answer for your question at the time you asked or somthing, theres quite a few threads that sometimes dont get answers for whatever reason :mmmm
Gurj
I\'ve just been throught this thread and there are only 4 posts that relate back to the original question about AFR which I was finding interesting and three pages or mebership issues.

Hi Guys,
Please read this guys, hopefully it will help, maybe these difference\'s can be taken there leaving this thread alone.

"I have tried to join in with some threads only to be ignored, is this becouse i\'m a non-member if I join will every post get an answer ?"
Hi mate -
Don\'t worry, it\'s not personal. This is an equal opportunities forum where members\' posts can be ignored on the same basis as non members\'. :) I was a little concerned that no one had answered you - which might have been taken to prove your point. Don\'t give up on us quite yet. Clive has covered the membership thing in his post it seems so...back to the AFR\'s or whatever it was that kicked this off in the first place.
lol @ this thread :)
OH dear. What started out as a nice technical post has ended up back on this old topic. LOL.
Im off to rx7club for a while to see if there is any thing of interest LOL LOL
