Title: anyone got any ideas?
Post by: dubber91 on February 13, 2006, 05:23:02 PM
right getting into the rotorbug again, and im having trouble getting her started when shes hot. If i bump start her shes fine.
Now does this normally mean that the startermotr isnt turning it over fast enough? Anybody got any ideas as to how i might be able to solve this?
oldone and travelinbob i spose this are aimed more at you ;)
What starter did you use? currently im using the stock 12v starter as the 12V starter ring was shrunk fit onto the mazda centre flywheel.....

Cheers guys

Steve

Sorry to say but is quite often a sign that a rebuild is due, get her compression tested.

dubber, try this- when it wont start, squirt some oil down the carb, then try again. If it starts up, then lack of compression is the problem  :-(

but thats the thing.....it start no problem from a bump. The engine was rebuilt a while back. The fact is i beleive it to be down to the starter. Its a beetle starter and therefore is used to starting a big torquey lump....not a rev happy rotary...

would turning it over slowly lead to flooding?
