Title: Coolant level?
Post by: avityesboy on February 11, 2006, 04:57:59 PM
Hi all

Where should i check and fill the coolant level from? as i have noticed there is a tank behind the drivers headlight, an expansion tank near the other side and another cap/filler at the front of the engine?

Cheers Avi :Hammer

You fill it from the one infront of the alternator in the middle the one that is on the passangerside is the expansion tank and the one by the intercooler is the AST (air separation tank)

The expansion tank should be between the H and L marks on the dipstick and the AST you can leave alone it will sort itself out.

If your filling the car up from nothing make sure you bleed the coolant so you don\'t get any air locks.

While were on this subject, my expansion tank level is just a little bit over the low on the dipstick but in the filler tank in front of the engine it is full. Should i add a little water to the expansion tank or let it sort it self out, cheers.

Prob worth adding a bit so it sits between the middle and the high mark. Keep an eye on it though.
