Title: What sort of figures am I looking at for a respray? Recommendations?
Post by: M@r]{ on February 10, 2006, 04:32:59 PM
Looking to get this done in the next few months - depending on cost!

So how much should I be looking to pay for a good job?  I dont want flip paint or anything - just something metallic, perhaps with that silver fleck in the paint?

I would have thought 1-1.5K, depends on whether you have any pin dent etc that need putting right which will bump up the cost and the amount of flake. Metallics will be more than a standard flat colour.

Hi Mark
For a full respray(into boot, door shuts and engine bay lip) with a met paint and flake in the laquear, your looking around £1500. That\'s as long as the body work is clear of dents,so all they have to do is rub down, mask up and paint.
I would recommend the guys that sprayed mine to anyone.

Well, I would say if you are looking, for something a bit off the track, nice, met colour it\'s going to cost you about 5 to 6K

I would say mine was \'a bit off track\' work included panel work, welding, body kit fitting and the full respray in spectra flash but it didn\'t cost anywhere near 5K!!!!!!!

5K get real.... if you\'re paying that for someone to fit a body kit, take out the dents and paint it you are being ripped off.

For a respray in the same colour you have on the car now it\'d probably be about £1500

For a change of colour it\'d be about £2500

For something fancy like a HoK candy or metal flake job it\'d probably be about the 5K mark.

They are real prices i\'ve been quoted in the South East over the last couple of weeks from good body shops with good reputations

I am guessing that Normski is on about a bare metal re-spray. That\'s the only way I could work out a price like that.

Good point.
Mine was black originaly the right colour for spectraflash to go onto which was a bonus.

Thanks for all the tips.  that was I was thinking - well around the £1500 mark.  Just got to find a decent bodyshop and decide on colour.

Anyone recommend a decent bodyshop?

And what do you guys think of the mazda RX8 blue?

Do you know if they ever produced an RX7 in this colour?  From the factory?
