Yup thats the Scoot bonnet, if its an original Scoot item fit should be very good. Think Gary at Rotaryart.uk.com does a good copy as does Chuck from RotaryExtreme

If that is carbon then its not scoot but one from USA. Scoot only make fibre glass.

Hi Warthog

I hope you are well.

Can you tell me who fitted the bonnet for you and how much was it ?

It is one thing to buy it but to have it fitted well is another..

I may want to treat my self to one…

Regards,
Michaelb

Hi

I may treat my self to one of your bonnets in the summer.

Do you fit and re-spray?  If so how much for 96 White FD? Do they come in black?

Regards,
Michaelb

Sorry for not getting back to you on this thread but been busy working long hours. I did the fitting myself. The only things I had to do were cut out the rear inset sections for the air flow from the intake to blow down to the rear of the engine. I also put another access hole in the rear area for easy access to refitting the washer jets. The washer jets  hole do need a slight adjustment with a needle file to cut a slot for the washers to fit perfect ( 5 min job ) For added safety I fitted a bonnett arm retaining plate over the inset locating hole for your bonnett arm. I also changed the retaining screws for the bonnett front catch to stainless ones. All minor stuff, how I wanted it. My mate got it resprayed for me at a trade only paint shop. They do all the GT race cars. Price for that is not for here. ;)
HTH. Oh, and the air flow does work keeps every thing nice and cool.  :Party

how are the carbon copys fitment like then, as i take it you cant file away like fibreglass as the weave will be ruined

No idea on CF but the slot for the washers is cut into the side of the hole only about 2mm as is hidden under the washer unit when you fit it in.HTH. :wave

Pins fitted and sprayed.
The bonnet is put in the oven and heated, then etched, then primer, then 2 pack. So its properly, if you get someone just to spray it as the quality is good enough for that because its f/g it will flake. So be warry of cheap spray prices.
Been to 2 companies and both almost identical.
£300 sparyed and pins.

Hi

I also took a while to thank you for the replay…How you stop the rain getting under the bonnet with the front vent facing the way it is. Does the bonnet for Rotary Art comes with some sort of shelving?

Regards,
Michaelb

The tunnel runs all the way through, so that the rear of the engine is cooled. Not had any problems with rain getting to the back of the engine bay, this may be because of the heat from the engine I\'m not sure. Anyone else got the answer??????? :wave

The vent is too long and at too much of an angle for water to run the distance, plus when you are driving its like having a soft top that down, most miss\'s unless you stop. Dont know anyone thats had aproblem with water.

I\'ve had both Real Scoot replica and the one pictured in the beginning. The one pictured is made by a company, //www.visracing.com. I have two of these CF version Scoots. The fitment on these CF\'s are amazing (for $500 USD each). But it does not have a channel that runs from the front opening to the brake master cylinder or DP.

Pic of my FD with the same hood.. just a test fit.

The other thing that ours had changed was the tunnel, it can be fitted with a strut brace, the others Ive seen wont allow for the strut, it catches the tunnel. We also designed the tunnel to be a strengthening feature which allowed us to make it stronger and lighter then the original. Our Fibre glass weighs less than some CF.

Damn! I\'ve just been comparing pictures of the scoot bonnets to my engine bay - i don\'t think i\'ll be able to have one, as I have a v-mount intercooler kit, and i think that will get in the way! Boo! Hiss!

Not sure why a v mount would get in the way.
I will do a sale or return if dont fit, returned in as good condition.
Or shoot up and try it, I have them in stock.

might just do that - my finaces parents live in billericay.

Here\'s the engine bay - just looked like the central intake might fowl on the pipework.

see what you mean, might be tight I think.
You might have to cut around the central tunnel and relase that air earlier, or maybe wait for my new bonnet, approx 4-6 weeks ;-)

nikp,

I don\'t think you\'ll have issues. One of my local sponsor for an event that I organize (//www.dealsgaprotaryrally.com) puts Corvette LS1 engines into FD\'s (//www.Hinsonsupercars.com). The VIS scoot hood (Similar to rotaryart.uk.com) sells will fit with LS1 converted FD. ITs actually one of the few hoods on the market that leaves more room under the hood. I\'ve had over 6 different aftermarket hood (MS, Knightsport, Faspac, RE, Scoot, replica scoot) and by far this give the maxium space under the hood.

Also, to correct rotaryart.uk, OEM scoot and replica scoots that I\'ve had will work with Mazda OEM strut tower brace (R1). Other brace might not fit well with scoot hood with the tunnel in the center (Cusco D).

Not seen all scoot reps, but the one we had to play with would not allow for stock brace, so ask question from where ever first.

I understand. Just pointing out my experience with different hoods.

Here are some old pics of my car with the replica scoot I had. I\'ve also compared this hood with other replicas scoots and real scoot hood and size seemed very very similar.

NICE pics!!

Hey what make is the replica hood you got there, does it have a name like VIS ....

Where can I get the same one?

The replica hood from the picture above (Blk FD) are from //www.rotaryextreme.com. The owner Chuck have made a exact replica from the real scoot. But as mentioned before, real scoots aren\'t that great in quality. Chuck later make a better fitting version of the real scoot.

But my experience with scoot replicas is that VIS version (earlier pics I posted, My MB FD) actually fits better. Only thing you\'ll miss will be the center tunnel been non-functioning.

Also heard good things about the Selbion (spelling??) one as well, apprently they have best fit out of the them.  WHat is your opinon on this please?
