Been to Rx motors today to see how the rebuild was going and tim let me know that the exhaust wheel was smashed to bits. It looked rea bad.
Anyway, they are sending it to universal turbos to find out the precise damage and cost to rebuild. A bit annoying as the turbo is less than 500miles old. Anyway, tim said that the turbo didnt seem as large as he thought (comparison with T04E was made). I was told that it was the blowzilla turbo from here (http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/t3b.html) . On the casing it says 0.70 A/R and M24. What do these mean?
i was hoping to make around 400-420RWHP. Will this be a touch too much for this turbo? if so then where could i buy an upgraded turbo from, just so i can get an ldea of the prices. I can see the rebuild costing around £600 if the bearings are knackered and if a new bigger turbo isnt much more id think about an upgrade.
cheers for your help
rich
Cant see you making more than 340-360 rw bhp on that turbo unless you start running silly boost. My TO4E made 365 at hubs pushing it.
We have a small selection of turbos here which will give you an idea of costs.

these are flywheel figures from the manufacturer.
i dont understand why that turbo is less capable than the T35 and T38 that you sell?? I really dont understand all that much about turbo sizes so i apologise for my ignorance
Rich, it\'s Greg- email me at royston1xx@blueyonder.co.uk as i may have something for you or call my mobile.

Hi Greg,
This had been brought to our attention as a reported post.
It was decided at the mazdarotaryclub.com AGM yesterday that we would moderate posts from NON-MEMBERS trying to sell items through the site. Also that we won\'t be allowing NON-MEMBERS to publish their email addresses.
We will let you off this time, as we haven\'t made this public knowledge as yet.
Please think about signing up as a Full Club Member, it doesn\'t cost much, and you can use the PM facility.
Im a bit shocked that the AGM has decided this, but if thats what the members want so be it.
I cant see why a non member cant publish there email address, I think its just overkill personally.
Richard if you decide not to join MRC as a full member you can join FDUK as you have an FD3S, you allowed to PM for free, http://www.fduk.org/forum/
Glen, Greg just meant some advice as hes been helping me understand all about rotaries.

Sorry this is off topic,
Hi Mark,
It was decided by the members of MRC that this and other changes would now be implemented from now on,
It was also decided that non members will not be able to start new threads any more unless they are starting a "For Sale" thread then they can use e-mail addresses , but even then non members will not be able to circumvent the system by replying with an e-mail.
The flip side of this is that Full Club Members will be able to have priority buying items on MRC from now on.
It was decided by the floor that there is a huge technical archive that has been accumulated on MRC over the last four years and that casual non members can use the search facility to assist them with most problems they will encounter.
MRC members have seen how much this site costs to operate and it was decided that more restrictions should be put in place.
I would like to add that the site costs for MRC and FDUK are much the same, however please do not be under the illusion that FDUK is free as it is funded and sponsored by the two people who own FDUK and unlike MRC if they decide to walk away it just dies by coming off line.
The fees from members and this site are ploughed back into this Club not only to operate this site but also to bring you things like RotorStock and Brooklands etc etc which would not happen without money.
Over the next few days hopefully the minutes of the meeting will be converted from short hand to text for all to see.
There are FOUR HOURS of AGM to be sifted through and most of these hours were consumed by the actions of people on the Forum!
If you felt strongly about your club you really should have been there as your vote may have made a diffence.
The people who did attend essentially became MRC in its entirety and it was made clear that they had the power with their vote to make ANY changes they wished, and they did.
I have no doubt that over the next few weeks we will see comments made about this should have happened or that should have happened, but my answer is that they should have been at the AGM to vote on and have their say about THEIR Club and not whinge about it afterwards.

I\'m sure this will be taken as a whinge but please dont make out that people who dont get to the AGM just dont give a **** about this club. Max, myself and Geff really had hoped to get to the AGM this year - but instead we were working all day cause we cant afford to turn people walking through the door away any time...thats just how it is. We will try again next year :(
Hope it went well, look forward to hearing what a foot in due course.
R.
EDIT: also sry this is off topic!
Ok - Apologise on my thread to all those members who were genuinely unable to attend the AGM.
However, the above is to explain just how important the AGM is to this Club.

Fair enough mate :Thumbsup!
Well I would have liked to attend, but as my car is down at Reworx to get fixed after having thrown a side seal so I couldnt.
I agree with most of your comments eg about starting new threads and disabling the search facilty encouraging new members to join, but its just my view the old email thing was maybe a bit to far as it makes our club sound unfriendly and elitist and may shun pontential non-members from joining up, but these are just my views.
Just felt Glens reply to Richard and Greg was a bit too severe it made him sound like a policman/teacher telling some children off and wouldnt have made me want to join up less reading that if they were thinking of joining
but hey Im a lover not a fighter so peace my brothers and onto RSIII
The view of all at the AGM was that the mods needed to take a harder line and tighten up on alot of areas on the forum. If the mods were given stick for this then they were given the support of those in attendance at the AGM who became the representatives of all the club, that they would have our full support.
This was voted on with the full backing of all of those in attendance.
This can only serve to better the club and encourage longterm benefits such as the continued expansion of the paid up members.
The AGM is the place where you can really do something about things if you are not happy, and if you aren\'t able to make it then that is tough really, this is how most organizations work.It is not as if there wasn\'t plenty of notice.
Regards
Carl
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply.
It was agreed that the search facility WILL STAY, this way non members can get assistance to most problems from MRC database.
One of the base reasons that MRC was set up was to help anyone with a Rotary and this way the site will still assist anyone.
how much is it to join and PLLEAAASSSSEEEE someone get back to the topic :D
Richard! sorry mate. Join through the red button at the top of the form - JOIN, or go here: http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_25&products_id=28
As for your turbo, what you really need to know is the Exhaust Housing size.
Some examples are that a GT35 (sometimes GT35/40) turbo rated at 700hp (on a piston engine) has an exhaust housing size of 1.06. On a rotary engine that same turbo will produce just over half that amount of rated power, at similar boost.
0.70A/R for the front housing isn\'t a bad size, but you could go larger.
Selecting the correct turbo for your engine/car is a bit of a science really.
Have a search around within the Forum, here is a link for you with some great info.:

Hope this helps, sorry to mess up the thread!
on Ed\'s old turbo (GT35/40,) he made 360 rwhp at 1.1 bar, and it wasnt in a great a state of tune if i remember correctly. That had a .94 hot side on a T4 footprint
cheers ant....yep its was a .96 undivided on a divided manifold...running in the low tens so pretty rich!!!.....
so whe you gonna let her rip ANT??????....just gonna get a couple more bits for my new MP T70 crank it up to1.4 and see what happens....got 405 atw at about 1.2 and on a .84 rear (...bit too small to be fair) seemed restricted, so bigger rear and 4 inch tubed zorst on the way....I wanna see what difference the changes make without mapping for them..just for info....(obviously keeping an eye on AFR)
What does the MP stand for? is it Master Power turbos?
You got it Blitzy....did the side seal go whilst mapping?
it went 4 weeks after mapping, combination of colder temps and unmatched flowing injectors. You live and learn lol
T70 nice should give a good shuv in the back lol
it does to be fair running low at .95 at the mo and feels so strong...don\'t even bother switching to high boost...no point just goes mental!!!......but you know what its like...you just keep wanting more!...but after these last two changes i will leave it alone........as I feel it will get a bit too much for a street car....then up the strip at Rotorstock...i\'m in team JAYDEE by the way (as all my tuning and a few more bits and pieces are down to him)......then we can put all this arguing to an end.....
must give props to Ross who built my engine and geoff and chris for putting on a few of my bolt on goodies
...ooops...hope I haven\'t opened a can of worms :2Confused
ohhh Ed you have just given me an idea for RSIII, what this space in the hype section on MRC and on FDUK
i feel so out of place with my little turbo\'s and only 300@wheels lol
by the time i get a single you guys will have 4 rotors :Grrr

Ok, i will cancel my course at phychic college as it obviously isn\'t working out for me and with my refund i can join here. I didn\'t realise you had to be a full paying member to help people out on this forum ( which i used to do a lot via pm before it was scrapped.)
How much is it to join the rotary elite list? :Ladys-man
Hi Greg,
It would be really good if you were to join the club mate.
It is only £25.00 first time and £20.00 for a renewal.
You and other paid members get many benefits, apart from being able to see,and use all of the forum, such as discounts into events, and other benefits that will become more apparent as the year progresses.
I guess that with your course being cancelled at Phsychic college you should have known that it was waste of money,if it worked you would have known about the post being monitored! At least here you get real answers.

Is there any way to measure the size of the exhaust thing as im haivng it sent off to universal turbos to see the damage and rebuild cost, would they be able to tell me the size of the exhaust wheel?
the turbo was supposed to be this one but i dont know that for definate: http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/gat4b.html does that have the info you require?

Hi Ed,
I have fitted the turbo and done a couple of other things, (more fuel and nitrous) i have only driven it once with the new turbo and it feels more lively than the old T88 but i havent given it any stick as in this weather i have zero traction and its not mapped for the new turbo or fuel, so i just blipped it with boost controller off at wastegate pressure which is 8 psi.
Hoping to get it mapped at the end of this month....
405 ATW is pretty damn good, i\'m still playing with old technology on my T2 engine :2Confused but if i get 385 with this turbo i will be happy, plus Gas of course :D
Ok Geezer..good Luck And Keep Us All Posted!!
