Hi, New bloke here, wondering if anyone can offer me advice. I\'m going to look at a 13b Cosmo on Friday and was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on what to look/listen for, problem areas, typical service costs etc. Also which companies will insure one, the usual import insurers ie Adrian Flux, Tesco etc don\'t want to know! Any pointers will be very gratefully recieved.
Cheers, Jimma.
ps thats a Eunos Cosmo not a 110 cosmo
Hi Jimma,
There are a couple of people on here who have purchased JC Cosmo\'s (my brother is one of them).
If you are going to go for one, then I would recommend the 20B engine as opposed to the 13B.
All the normal precautions should be taken, check this thread out as many of the rules can be applied to the Cosmo.

He has had a problem with the auto in one of his Cosmo\'s but generally I believe the auto box is quite good, other than in and around the engine/gearbox check things like brakes (they are a little underbraked in my opinion) and suspension/shocks etc.
Thanks mate, I will take some time to read this later today, much appreciated.
As Glenn says - you really \'want\' a 20B JC over a 13B.
Dont pay too much for a 13B - they really have pathetic values over here. Whats is going for and wheres it located roughly?
If you are concerned about spending the money on a dog then it might be worth getting some one to check it out for you. Geff at RE:Worx is au fait with them to a degree - and Tim at RX Motors knows a fair amount for sure (usually has a couple of JC\'s and front cuts dotted about I think).

Its 4K and it\'s in the Southampton area,It\'s a 1990 and it\'s done 80000 (apparently) genuine miles, the interior leather is crap. I don\'t know anyone who knows about rotaries who could come with me, thats the problem. Do thay share any of their parts i.e. suspension etc with the RX7 or any other Uk Mazda? Cheers, Jim.
ps. I\'m having real trouble getting quotes, as soon as you mention the word Eunos, theyre straight on the case of the MX5!
I think that is this car:

right?
When you look at it, please greets Andrew from me.
Best wishes

ps. thanks , now you put that link up, the potential seller now knows the potential buyer knows nothing about rotary engines.:(
I had the same problem insuring my 13b Cosmo - everyone thought it was an MX5 as soon as you said the word "Eunos".
I\'m insured through AON (I think that the Club has a discount with them) and they\'ve been great. Had all may Imports insured with them No problem.
If it is the 13b at Autolink, I\'ve seen it on the web - too rough too expensive & too many miles.
My 13b came with 49k miles, full translated service history, all original documents, manuals etc. (Even the Rotary Cosmo keyrings are still with it) and cherished plate for £4900.

Thanks for the advice Tim. It was the only one I could find without having to go throgh the hassle of importing! Back to the drawing board eh. MY other option was one of those \'N\' cars R32 GTSt probably. If you hear of any an all that....

Well m8,
I dont know if Andrew is present on this forum. Yes I was interessted in this car, till I got prices for imports.
Tim has told everything, I\'m thinking about this Cosmo.
Best Wishes,
Iwan
I didn\'t intend to knock Autolink as he\'s had some nice stuff, it\'s just that there are better Cosmos out there for the money. I think dealers find it difficult to price them right as they\'re not that common in the UK. I would keep looking as they do turn up. Just type "eunos cosmo" in to your search engine and you\'ll see what I mean.
I know you don\'t want to import but bestjapancar.com had a very nice looking dark Blue Type S 13b on their site for 330k yen (I did the math and that\'s about £ 1800) Even with the cost of importing, that\'s still a lot of car for the money. I would keep looking.
