Title: knock senser/ ecu instructions
Post by: evildave on September 23, 2003, 07:32:12 PM
What is an acceptable amount of knock from a new engine?

The apexi commander shows it as very slight on tick over but rises to 50-60% of the scale when rev\'d.

Also

Is there anywhere that i can download some english instructions for an Apexi power fc?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi, cant help with the knock levels i am afraid. But if you go on to the Apexi web site you can download the instructions from there.

Different engines show different levels from that sensor, which is an indication of noise similar to knock as well as knock!

If in doubt, get the car checked over, but like I say don\'t treat the signal as gospel!

Hi Dave,

I don\'t fully trust the Apexi knock sensor readings, it appears to vary quite a lot across different cars.

It could also be possible that the knock sensor itself needs replacing.  Can you hear any pinging under load etc.?

The engine sounds fine on tickover (still waiting to collect the car)
The Co levels etc were checked and read-spot on so internally the engine is running fine.

The engine and mods are all brand new so i guess it may see some noise until parts bed in (only covered 15 miles).
