I have a little problem,my TII idles at around 2.5 to 3k rpm,it some times drops back to normal but when is does its hunting for the right rpm,I also have little or no boost when this is happening...
It has been sugested to me that there will be a boost leak somewhere,on a quick inspection there is a little nipple on the back of the engine beside the oil filter with nothing on it,looks like there should be a hose or something on it ? I guesing this could be drawing in air ? Any Ideas ?
i think that is supposed to be there to be honest
mine starts and revs to about 2.5 - 3K then settles after a few mins ( like a quick warm up routine - you can stop this by starting with the clutch pressed )
mine sometimes hunts but drives just fine ( i dont worry about it now to be honest )
a leak is the probably cause - its just finding the thing :D
when you say no boost - is that when you rev it in neutral - or when you are driving it ??
if you are getting no boost when driving , fit a boost gauge and see if that gives a better answer
im sure my boost gauge stopped working once i fitted the FCD ?
Its not boosting when driving, The revs stay high even after driving long distance. It might be a boost leak just have to find it...
Anyone else ?
NO BOOST at all
humm something sounds a miss then
have you checked the pipes that to the pressure sensor on the drivers side suspension turret - are all those OK ?
Ive had a quick look without striping it down and cant see anything that looks out of place.
Im going to strip the intercooler out and trace the hoses early next week, anyone got any tips or advice on what I should look for ?
Think I got it :yes I took off the intercooler and had a look around, after tracing and checking every hose and finding no problems I then started on the wiring,Just behind the alternator and underneath the intercooler hose there was an electrical connector plug thingy which was coroded and fell apart in my hand, the wires were in bad shape so I did a little rewireing and taped it all up... Took the car out for a spin and it seem to be ok... :yes
glad to hear that mate, if the wiring was the issue then it was probably due to the long drive and the heat of the engine.
I had similar wiring problems on my old TII when I first had it, can be a mare. BTW its well worth getting an aftermarket boost guage, the dash one will either give up without a fight one day or (more likely) is reading pure fiction!
