Title: Electric Windows
Post by: dj_dee99 on February 02, 2006, 05:36:52 PM
Now, I don\'t know if this is gonna sound like a dumb question, but......

My windows open and close by moving in about 6 or seven stages, rather than 1 full slide down or up. Is there a certain thing I have to do to make them go all the way down in 1 go?

not had anything to do with fd windows(mines fc) but on other cars ive work on with one touch it means one of two things
1 the window is tight, try lubing the seals with silicone or ptfe spray.
2 the window wants resetting (ussually if the batterys been off or the like) take it all the way up and hold the button for about 5 seconds then all the way down and hold again, if it doen\'t work go to 10 but its probably best to go much more or you could overheat the motor. if you get really stuck drop me a line @ jhaines1@tiscali.co.uk and ill ask my brother to look in the mazda workshop manual for me. jon

mine are a RIGHT pain - you have to grab the top of the window for it to move up - goes down fine

the rover had the SAME prob - it was loose bolts holding the motor - so just tightened them up and worked like a treat

try some WD40 on the seals - if that works - they need lubing - if not - door panel out for a better look :D

I would be carefull what you put on the seals,it has been known that petroleum based lubes can destroy the rubber seals over time  :wave
