Title: Cat/Air pump and MOT?
Post by: Grizzly on January 29, 2006, 12:38:29 AM
Hi guys,

I\'m planning on decating an Fd and removing the Air pump.

I know this a Instant MOT problem? But would it be solved by just fitting the Cat back on for a day whilst its MOT\'d?

Or will having no Air pump be a Problem too?

The car will be Running a Power FC and it will be Mildly Ported if that makes any Diffrence?

Cheers..

Hi Grizzly,
If it\'s any help, my air con started playing up after the summer so i thought i\'ll whip the fuse out for that till next year, after a long time through the bad weather i had not noticed the mooing had stopped from my Apaxi intakes, anyway i put the fuse back in now and the air pump i thought was faulty burst into life,
but the engine has run perfect for a couple of months without it, and now runs worse with it!
but no harm done
Bob

Grizzly is your car an import, if it is then as long as its pre 95 you don\'t need a cat for the MOT. Just make sure that the testing station knows that it should be getting going through the non cat test. Mine took 3 attempts to get through the emisions test though which was a bit worrying, eventually the injectors needed cleaned and it sailed through.

Cheers guys, I have spent quite alot of time reading up and have found that as the car will be running a Poer Fc if can be quite easly tweeked to pass even without cats fitted (you just can drive it like that).
