Title: Twin turbo..... twin BOVs ???
Post by: Jim_rx7 on January 28, 2006, 10:57:10 PM
seeing as the rx7 is a TT car, is it possible to run twin BOVs??

I know other TT cars run 2 bovs, but what\'s the story on the rx7??

Cheers

ah!... just the one I was buying only had one aftermarket vent to atmos BOV on it... I take it you can fit two then without any problems?

Martin, you should know by now that 1 is a BOV the other being a charge relief valve. The CRV is for the buildup of pressure before opening the flap for the second turbo.

But back to the quesion, yes you could run 2 BOV\'s, why I am not sure. You can valves that open at a set pressure and look like a BOV. I think they are called pop-off valves.

There are 2 valves, neither of which Mazda call a blow-off valve. So, I stand corrected, the correct statement should then be:

The FD does not have any blow-off valves.

I was just comparing it to the sort of setup on a 300zx with twin turbos.... you can connect two vent to atmos bovs to that.

Simply curious if the same can be done to the rx7? As the one I have paid a deposit on has the one vent to atmos bov.

The standard system on an FD is re-circ. system, venting to atmos. will confuse the stock ECU.

but does the rx7 not run with a map sensor as opposed to a afm ??

Surely if venting to atmos with a map sensor all should be ok?? If it had afm then obviously there would be unmetered air getting vented to atmos etc??

I\'m simply going on my experience with the mr2 here... correct me if I\'m wrong.

what i did 1st was use the stock 1s and vent them to atmos but not into the fillter, every thing was ok,apart from the crap sound of the stock valves.so i bought 2 proper bovs and use them, but i didnt have a stock ecu so fish might be correct

I\'m running an after market BOV on a stock ECU and I haven\'t encounterd any problems!! But as Jim was saying there is no AFM so it shouldnt affect it at all??? I know the Skylines run AFM and if you run an after market Atmosphere BOV then the car runs stupidly rich for about half a second ( which gives the a flame out the back between gears when giving it some!!) also a very very slight hesitation befor power comes back to peak!!
