Title: Power Graph for stock FD.
Post by: Red and Single on January 24, 2006, 12:56:22 PM
Hi Guys,

A friend of mine has been asked to quote to build a VW box that will be mated to a 13bREW and he asked me if I could get him the stock power charts.

I have my power chart but at 335rwhp, it\'s not exactly what he is looking for !!

Can anyone help me by posting up a stock graph , preferably a factory one, I \'ve had a good look, but to no avail !!

Many thanks

This is close - it\'s not quite a true stock graph, as you can see the transition between first and second turbo there\'s actually a peak, rather than a trough. But other than that, it\'s as close as you\'ll get!

what happened to scale the torque graph? I\'d love to see the gearbox builder\'s face when he\'s asked to build a box to take 895lb/ft :) :2Confused  :2Confused :)

Yeah, i know! Haven\'t a clue whats going on there. It\'s a factor of something-or-other out! Don\'t know why - I\'d have to ask Pip i guess!

if you ignore the funny peak at the transition, that looks like about 180lb/ft give or take

Kevin - that graph looks a bit odd to me: the figure that peaks at 215 looks like the torque curve to me, not the power curve. So is that right?

At 215 i imagine wheels - but I\'m still a little confused over the graph!

Yes it\'s at the wheels.  The graphs shows power and boost pressure.

You need to devide the pip results by 4.1, something to do with the way the dyno measures it. Makes 222bhp and 223 ftlb of torque at the wheels, I think the drivetrain loss is about 17% (awaiting flame) !

So how does that compare with the torque for a rex thats stated by the manufacturer? Oh, and the drivetrain losses are approx that figure.

Just out of interest - what has caused that spike on the first graph?  Is it wheelspin on the dyno?

I don\'t think so - when i went up to pips it was to get a boosting issue sorted out. He mentioned in passing that he could do something about the boost dipping on change over to both turbos operating. So it seems to peak now, instead of dip!

I had the normal dip once he sorted a few of the issues out, but once everything was done, that\'s the power graph i got. He\'s a printout with dip, before he worked "some" magic!

Nice one, thank you for that.  Was a big difference too!  :)
