Title: engine mount set for an FC
Post by: FD3SNuttah on January 24, 2006, 10:30:53 AM
Have a look at these.....

Uprated mounts set (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8031902524&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT,)

whats everyone think to these?

anyone using uprated mounts?  this is a whole set and it seems like a good deal.

Would harder mounts affect the vibration levels throught he chassis on a rotor? im thinking it wouldnt make too much of a difference due to the smooth running motion of the rotary engine.

Does anyone else use harder mounts? where did you obtain them? cheers guys

Seems a reasonbly good deal to me....i also have a set of Mazdaspeed Bushes for my car and they gives the car more vibration as the engine mounts are harders so will be transfering the vibration to the car ..........mean less movement of the engine and therefore less power will be loss through that.....i think is definately good idea to have a harder mount as rotary engine does lot more vibration...thats why many fd owners to have a torque brace to stop the engine movement!! just my 2p

I run uprated engine/trans mounts on my rally car and the amount of vibration is certainly a lot higher than with the standard mountings ... it took a while to get used to it as it felt like the engine was running rough all the time ! I\'m not sure what difference a rotary would make ?

I fitted an uprated engine mount for my 323 and it vibrated the car to hell when the "valves"! kicked in. but it was miles better to drive as the engine wasnt thrashing about. so i know exactly what you mean mike.

I was just wondering as you always hear about the "smooth turbine" style of power delivery from the rotary engine so i was just checking to see if it wouldnt make a difference to vibration levels. although from what sam says it will a bit more, oh well.

im still going for this upgrade cos soon im having the diff/engine and box out and theres no point in keeping the old standard stuff! im still waiting for a price from shy auto, always good to buy british!!

im always go on this philosophy -- no point in replacing anything worn for a standard item when you can upgrade for not much more / less!

Sorry a minor thread hi-jack coming.....

Can anyone tell me what engine mounts would be needed for a FC with the FD engine in??

Will regular mounts fit or custom jobbies needed?? I recall hearing something about the centre plate being different on the engines, where the mounting points are :xconfused

Cheers Rich

I use fd solid mounts on my FC. So should not be a prob which ever setup you have

I have used this place myself. They where quick and helpfull when i used them.

I found the Gearbox mounts where the worsed for vibration, the engine ones where bad at first but i got used to them very quickly.

When i fitted the Diff/Subframe mounts i noticed i could hear a diff whine where as before i could\'nt. But i don\'t know how much of the Vibration was coming from the Gearbox, But i\'d say 70-80%

TBH, If i knew then what a do know i\'d have fitted the Polly Bushes in the Suspension, Engine mounts and FT Diff mount then fitted new rubber bushes to the two Back Diff mounts,Subframe and gear box.
