Title: 3rd Gen RX-7
Post by: Davegtt on September 19, 2003, 03:42:03 PM
Hi Guys, I except I might not get many replies to this as you probably get this all the time but here goes:

I currently have a R5 GT Turbo, I\'ve had it for a fair few years now, and thinking at 25 need to move on to something "better" It seems difficult to find a car that will give me the turbo rush and having a heavilly modified R5 finding something seems difficult for the money.

I was thinking about a 3rd Gen RX-7 I have always loved the looks of the car and know they have excellent power as standard.

Do you think this car will keep a turbo charged grin on my face?

I am looking to pay arounf 7.5K, do you think this is a reasonable price to pay and would I get a decent motor?

Many thanks

Dave

Dave,
Guaranteed your grin will be twice the size - 2 turbo\'s y\'see!  They\'re enormously quick - even in standard trim.  My hot hatch experience is pretty limited - a vti civic only - but the difference isn\'t just the go - it\'s the feel (steering, handling & braking), the driving position & the engine.  Totally bizarre experience to see other road users disappearing into the distance in the mirror whilst there\'s what sounds like a washing machine somewhere in front of your feet hitting maximum spin!

I paid literally a couple of hundred more than what you\'re thinking about & that included shipping, conversions, delimiting, undersealing, an immaculate respray, alarm/immob.  Basically everything needed to drive a fully prepared \'92 typeX touring off the importers forecourt.  Don\'t forget the rarity - I\'m sure most people have no idea that something that looks that good could possibly cost only 4 figures.  I\'ve had people waving & taking photo\'s on 2 occasions on the M25 - definitely wasn\'t me they were intererested in.......I think.

Sorry - ranting now - check out some of the other threads on the site. In bangs per buck I really don\'t think you can beat one.

Hello mate, thanks for the reply.

I am really looking forward to owning an RX7.

There is a place near to me called Torque Imports based in Newton Abbott, I think I am going to go down there and have a look at what they have.

I agree about the looks of the car, only a couple of years between my five and the Rx7 yet it looks like there should be 10 years in it!!

Thanks again for the reply mate :)

Dave

Dave,

Doh! Forgot to add my name.......

Neil

PS - iluvmyrx7 - got my manuals from that guy.  Apparently others sell copies of his CD\'s cheaper on ebay, but I figured I\'d sooner give $15 to a fellow owner for his efforts.  He travels a bit for his job,  but once he was back in town, he turned it around really fast

Cheers Neil,

So what info do you get on the CD that you can\'t download from his site?

Dave :)

I don\'t think there\'s anything extra on the CD, it\'s just to save you downloading it all if you don\'t have broadband and a download manager.

Another site with masses of info is this one:
