Title: Local welder needed
Post by: cannibal on January 17, 2006, 08:48:08 AM
I have a used RE Amemiya uprated front pipe which I notice has a small crack in it. Can anyone recommend someone who could weld it up for me. The crack is between the top flange and the pipe. The flange is carbon steel and the pipe is stainless. The photo shows the size of the crack.

Cheers

Rich

Yell.com should be your friend for this one any local engineering firm should be able to do that one.

Make sure they use the right filler rods, or heat treat it afterwards; do you know what grade stainless it is? Some grades are susceptible to corrosion and embrittlement near the weld, which may be what has happened to yours in the first place :(

Thanks Mave, good point, that\'s why I thought I\'d ask if anyone could recommend someone who knows what they\'re doing.
