Post by: rx jamie on January 15, 2006, 04:25:27 PM
ive recently got a gt42r turbo from the states. i\'m not really sure what wastegate to use. i\'m unsure whether to get a 60mm or a 50mm wastegate. im wanting big power for track use .any ideas  ?

I would think that a 50mm would be able to do the job. What makes are you looking at?

Using a Trial 46mm on my GT42 without any issues at all.

ive seen a few on e bay but they are \'hks style\' . looks like xs power stuff. not too keen. but to be honest i\'ll only be using the car on the strip so im unsure what to go for.

Go for the biggest that you can afford. Bigger they are the less likely to suffer from boost spikes. So I have read anyway.

For low boost, the bigger the better as the wastegate will need to vent more exhaust gas. Presumably you\'ll be running high boost if you\'re after lots of power? Go with a big Tial w/g to be safe and remember to plumb back into the exhaust if you plan on not being black flagged at any track days  :3gears-lh
