induction kits do they really work or not???
i\'m after views on induction kits, from reading various articles and asking questions - i have got so many different opinions!
-on some cars they actually reduce the performance
-filters using oil can affect airflow sensors
-fine when cold - but due to location, problems when the car warms up

It depends on the quality of the setup. something like a gruppem uses a free flowing element with a cold air feed in a carbon fibre box. This is a good setup as it is sealed from hot air, unlike open pod type filters and has only cold air coming in. Also the carbon fibre has much better heat properties than the stock plastic box and will remain cooler.
Drop in replacement filters for the stock box have the benefits of cold air and free air flow and will not be affect by heat as much as the pod filters and is considerably cheaper.
So is there nowt that can potentially break on a FD from a sensor etc point of view from either oil contamination or extra air flow (other than the lean factor)?
Si (coming from a world of scoobies where MAF mass air flow sensor can break just by looking funny at it;))
