Title: Rotor tips again
Post by: Moulinex on September 12, 2003, 07:02:28 PM
just a quick question

i have finally had my engine rebuilt, with 3mm rotor tips, i have been told that starting will be a problem due to using 3mm tips, any views???

Also from an early thread - reduced rev range was mentioned, does this affect the power output???

thanks moulinex

Hi Moulinex

Give us a bit more info, like what mods have been done and by whom if that is ok.
3mm tips may present some starting probs in the early stages of running in but will settle to normal starting after a few hundred miles. The 3 mm tips weigh more so will be inclined to skip at higher revs so you should restrict your revs to about 7000 to be on the safe side.Power should be very good still even with the lower evs.

Kind regards
Carl

Hello carl - trying to pick ur brains again

the cars a type r, full engine rebuild, fitted with 3mm tips/seals, nes side seals and rotor housings and may have been ported, not to sure on mods untill i get a second opinion, but do know blitz dump valve, blitz 3" tail pipe, have put on the standard air box due to problems getting a mot with the induction kit.

still with the garage as very difficult to start, almost impossible!

when you say skip do you mean mis-fire?? does this affect the power curve??

thanks simon
