Title: Apexi Power FC Question
Post by: Andrew Harper on December 30, 2005, 09:06:00 PM
Hi,

Currently have the following mods on my UK Spec Car (just in case it makes a difference)

Gruppe M Intake
Fluidyne Radiator
Unorthodox Pulley Kit
and soon to fit Racing Beat Cat Back.

I am going to buy the Apexi Power FC and Commander but was wondering how it would cope with this setup and how soon I should get a remap?

Will probably come to the UK in April (to the Brooklands meet) so probably the nearest "mapping" solution is Reworx. But if anyone has any comments please let me know.

Judging by what I\'ve read so far on first installs the knock sensor seems to be the only problematic part of the install.

Will I be OK installing the unit in a UK Spec car?

Thanks

Andrew

.....wishing you all a happy 2006!

well the apexi power fc is what most modified rx7s have, and it can cope with most mods, most of the high bhp including single turbo cars have apexi power fcs, and the rx7 tuners such as re worx have alot of experience of tuning these.  So yes the apexi would be great to meet your needs.

Power FC will cope with your setup without much trouble, most high powered rx7\'s are running with the Power FC setup,

Once you have it fitted get it mapped asap otherwise a total waste, RX motors great place to start as they will know exactly what to do.

i too am planning a PFC and commander to replace my existing setup.  Can anyone tell me if my RE-Amemyia ECU with switchable boost will be worth selling on and if so for how much?

Cheers :Thumbs-up

Would the Apexi run ok on its base map with the mods that Andrew Harper has, or is there a chance that it could damage the engine whilst driving it on the base map?

cheers

Ant

you should ALWAYS get the ecu mapped for any mods that you have on the car for a start the mods would not be used to there proper potential and yes this could sometimes cause engine damage, also i think that the base map is designed for use with 98 RON fuel so unless you are using that then you should get it mapped, also always get it mapped by a specialist, there are plenty of good ones to choose from.
