On Wed 28th i get a phone call from Dre; are we going to Ace Cafe tonight? All i had to do was say no as the weather was **** as you all know but No i can not ressist the fact that it will be another chance of a drive up there with loads of cars and all. I also get me mate out in his white rex and we will be meetin Dre and his mate @ BP on A406 round 8ish.
Got onto A406 and going through the tunnel underneath the billet round about, doing about 50 or 60 in 4th gear. The bung was out of the exhaust so i said to my mate lets hear the rumble going through the tunnel, gave it a bit in 4th, hit the black ice patch and the back end was out to its left....****..its gone again...steer to left and for a second she straight but now its gone the other way and steer it again but then it was straight into the crash barrier. I am gone into comma...f****k why me???? its gone again..my mate following behind me is more shocked then i am....he sees every thing infront of him..left right left and bang at that speed...
I am truly out of luck this year. it has been one of the worst year ever and cant wait for it to finish. The police was very very helpfull towards the whole situation. They also said the road conditions were not exactly ideal that night and that wasn\'t their first emergency call.
What now? Im not giving up again this time either. No way... The engine is already out and so are all the other bit, ready to be transplanted into another black rex that is parked in my mate\'s garage. I will have bits left from the standard car left so let me know who wants what plz...i can do with some recovery. The engine and the box is gone. All the interior bits are available, Diff, std suspension, air pump, air con, power plant frame, 99 type rear lights inc centre light and may other bits that you may need then plz let me know??
Laeeq man, this is really unfortunate.
Hats off to your attitude however, after what happened in Feb and now you must really be commited to rotaries!
I would like like some bits from what you mentioned. Will shoot you a PM now.
Chin up.
:)
Unbelievable Leaq, glad to see your still carrying on with an RX though. Good luck.
Atleast with you keep smashing them up, they are becoming rarer again!

Many thanx to all for kind words and support.
Ouch. Feel for you mate, not a nice feeling at all!
I would be a vulture but christmas has wiped me out!
Good luck with the new one.
cheers
G
Laeeq man........what can I say?
We wondered why it was taking you so long to get to us....
But like it\'s already been said, glad your sticking with it....
ps........if you wanna ride down in mine for the scoobies......it\'ll be my pleasure ;)
Laeeq, your luck must change for the new year!
Good luck with getting back on the road with the RX, hope it all works out for you. Wanna see how that motor pulls in the dry with all that power!! :burnout
Laeeq, sorry to hear about your car bro.. the main thing is that you were ok...it was definately one of the best Rex I\'ve seen and the one to inspire me to buy a rotary in the near future.. I was at Ace cafe that night and to be honest the roads were seriously f****d, me an my mates were even losing grip in our FR cars. Well good to see your still sticking with the Rex.. hopefully the new one will be just as good if not better..
Kash
Bad news mate, nice car and made some decent power the other month, eh? :) Quiet too
Good luck with the new one mate.
:( Another sad day :(
Nice attitude with it though.. don\'t let the b@stards grind you down!
Ah Man Laeeq...cant believe it..she was going so well as well... all ma thoughts are with u bud.. thought i have a had a bad year!! Doesnt compare to yours!! I will def take a few bits of you mate... ill give you a call at somepoint this weekend (got the lights btw..cheers for them)... hoefully we can sort something... neeed to get you back in one soon!!...
I know its probs not the best time to mention it as you probs havent given it much thought...but if you need a hand sourcing a car from japan .. just let me know mate.. im more than happy to find you one...sure we can get one sorted..especially as you have a sorted engine ready to go in!
All the best mate..glad you have walked out ok...could have been alot worse...
All the best for 06 as well...
Cheers
Matt
ouch sorry to hear that fella, I am new to the rotary scene and on that day was literually round the corner from you (A10 McDs) but wasn\'t out in the FD, my prayers go out to you man and it\'s great to know you\'re still into the FDs! :) I\'ll also be calling you about the rear 99\' lights soon! Take care and I wish you and your family a very good and properess new year mate!
Laeeq,
Sorry to see that bro, have to hand it to you for your attitude exactly the same as what i would do get another rx and start again :Thumbs-up
Feel for your loss as mentioned great power output so at least you still got the engine to transplant for the new rx :King
Sincerly hope you get your "new" rx sorted for R3,
See you then
Gurj :Thumbs-up
PS - one of the reasons i am dreading picking my rx up from Pip\'s place, gonna have to drive back even slower now after reading this. :2eek
Real sorry for you dude - your attitude towards it is brilliant. Bring on another rex and onto RS3. :yes :3gears-lh
I would have gone out in mine yesterday to meet some mates but wans\'t feeling too good (coupled with the fact that my mate has also been a victim bad roads)
Be safe people :Thumbsup!
I drove past you on my way to Ikea. I\'m waiting for my FD3S to arrive from Japan and all I can say is I totally felt for you. Nice to see you\'re sticking at it!
Sorry to hear about this Laeeq, but as the rest have said at least you are OK. A car is just a pile of metal and plastic when it comes down it and can be replaced, you and your passenger can\'t be. Good to see your sticking with rotaries many people having spent all the time and effort that you\'ve put in would move on to something else, your obviously a true enthusiast. Good luck with the new car hopefully it will turn out even better than the old one.
I know that I will be taking it extra careful in icy and snowy conditions, as I probably would have done exactly the same going into a tunnel not expecting ice to be there.
Hope your new year brings a change of luck.
Barry
As above really mate, sorry to hear this, but you got out unmarked and safe- live to play another day! ;)
Fair play for getting another car sorted so quickly!!
Also PM sent (how the vultures prey :p )
Rich
jeeez another :Hammer just try and kinda forget about it 2moz bud and look forward to the new year :King :cheers
Argggggggg Laeeq, real sad to read this and just glad your O/K because sadly as your proving you can mend cars far easier than people.
I really do know how you feel and am pleased your not letting things beat you, I once spent ten months building a new Racecar took it to one shake down practice day then in its first ever race which was in the wet found myself laying second on the last lap with cars queuing behind me so rather than be content with second like a loon I thought I could sweep by off the outside of a bend that the leader was running tight off of, so I had a go and slid straight off into the barrier and took the whole front end of the car completely off and left it needing a rejig !!.
It was two weeks before I could even open the garage door to inspect the mess I had made of my nice new car :o
Good on ya for not giving up, see you at Brooklands in April with your new ride :D
Laeeq, sorry about the loss, will you let me raise the rear suspension now? please.
Jason
Feel real sorry for you mate. 2 in one year .... :(
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I can not describe in words how i have been feeling over the past few days but hey what can i do; sit here and think about it over and over again, and be more missrable or just get out and do something to change my luck?
I will be taking bits off this another car next week and will get back to you all asap.
many thanx
Unlucky mate, try not to let it get to you to much, your still one piece thats all that really matters in the long run, glad to see your sticking with rotaries, just have to make the next one better than the last.
AL
Shiit man!! sorry to hear it, the main thing is your not hurt. Good to hear your gona get it all into the new rex and build it back again, hopefully it\'l be bigger and better than before!
Rixio
Sorry to hear what has happened to you dude, i couldnt imagine doing that to my car...hope everything goes well getting a new one.
I don\'t mean to sound like an ass, but get yourself some advanced driving lessons/skid pan training in a RWD car. The way you describe what happens indicates that you over corrected and didnt give it enough throttle to control the speed of the rear end snapping back in, causing it to go the other way...maybe the crash could have been avoided if you were more confident at driving the car sideways...although i have hit black ice before too and its not nice.
Oh no not again! Really sorry to hear about your accident, but glad you came out all in one piece which is the main thing!! As before you had just got everything as you wanted and all setup too, what a pain! :(
Pleased also your sticking to the FD and already in the process of swapping all the bits to another car. I\'ll have to be a vulture and ask about the zorst!! ;) Although I\'m sure you\'ll be keeping it eh! Will chat to you later, take care!
Hats off to you Laeeq, if I had crashed my rex once last year I would have been devastated, but to do it twice and still not be put off takes strong character. :King
Glad you are okay though, and good luck for \'06
Glad you are ok mate. Went to Kerrin`s today, and saw your car...... :eek
Gutted for you mate. :Grrr
Noooooooooooooooooo
What a nightmare mate, gutted for you. Glad to see your stayinin there.
Drop me a pm about those lights and we can meet up.
jay
I said it, did I not say it! sorry to hear the crap news. You just can\'t use then this time of year. Every time you drive it it\'s like throughing a heads or tails. :flamed
Quotebut get yourself some advanced driving lessons/skid pan training in a RWD car.
Any recommendation ?
Mate ... nooo ... i was going to come to ace that night .. sorry to hear about the smash . glad you are ok .
Hope you get another sorted and get back to ace with a "7" see you there.
Quote from: J.j.Any recommendation ?
Yes, the cheapest and most effective option would be to get yourself an old capri and pump the rears up to 45psi...just keep it under 70mph :P
Find yourself some nice roundabouts, and go out and do some sliding. Buy a DVD called "drift bible" and try and follow its instruction. I know thats not skid pan training, but it will help you be confident enough to initiate the slide that is going to teach you how to handle a RWD car properly. Youll be surprised at how quickly your sliding like a pro, this will teach you to keep the sldies going, and end the slides.
Lots of people say its too dangerous to drive their cars in the cold and wet because they wheelspin everywhere, this is exactly why i love my RX7....and also i believe why ive never crashed it; because i purposely go out and have some sideways fun most times that it rains and this teaches me to control it.
And whoever said you cant drive these cars in the rain, why not? Give me ONE GOOD REASON why RX7s are ANY more dangerous to drive in the rain than say a capri, or a BMW...The trick is that they arent, its the driver that is the dangerous one. Try to go fast in the wet without the appropriate skill set and you lose your car.
Driving an RX7 in the wet - DONT put your foot down if your going round anything more than a slight slight corner (unless your confident enough to control 40mph+ slides) and dont try and brake late!
It irritates me people who say driving in the winter is dangerous...its still a car, its got four tyres. It only goes as fast as you drive it. Go and buy a bloody audi TT if you want to fanny around.
dude it happened to me,,,,, the tunnel b4 that the one where the bp garage is on the corner,,, i done that same thing but at half the speed,,,,,, i was really early for ace cafe so i drove past it and met my bird at the bp garage, we cam out of the garage into the tunnel and blame crashed right into a barrier,,, what a ****er,,,, i did mine in early december wen did urs happen m8?

Snap :yes
Ian, I have pictures of your crash, want me to upload them for you so you can show it off?
Laeeq, Love you attitude. Hope the next one is ready soon so you can get back out and enjoy it.
Luckily you and your friend are ok !
Hope you have one on the road really soon
I was told by the police that these two tunnels do cause loads of accidents and believe or not day before yesterday, there was an another car crashed into barriers, almost same spot . Mine happened on the 28th Dec05.
Although, many people here may question my driving but i had fast cars before and never went through what these rexs has put me through...but im not the sort of person who gets all wind up in these situations. I will be back on the road again soon. It was bad timing, bad place and my bad luck....thats life now need to move on.....
Swlonrx7; Was you in the rex as well mate??
u might aswell lol..... might make him feel better thats its not just him
at the end of the day u will look back and laugh at it,,,, i no i have,,,,,,

As JJ said! its not me its them lot who dont hang about. :Thumbs-up
I\'ve said it many times before if i didn\'t have good friends like Jay and Karim roubd i will not continue with all this. Hats of to them for helping me out big time...
Sh*t! Sorry to hear the bad news Laeeq. It\'s a horrible feeling when your car\'s smashed in a few seconds.
Some accidents are harder to avoid than others. Black ice is absolutely lethal as no matter what you do on it, you can\'t control the car if the tyres can\'t find grip.
I had a similar accident recently when aquaplaning on the motorway at around 90 mph in my AE86. One minute I was cruising in 5th in the 3rd lane, next minute I found myself very sideways almost facing the armco just a few metres ahead. I avoided hitting that, but there was no grip at all after it\'s started spinning. I just prayed I wouldn\'t hit another car or the barriers either side and that it would stop!
Luckily I didn\'t hit anything except a rim and the front bumper on the pavement on the inside lane after it spun 3 times crossing 3 lanes and wasn\'t going that fast any more.
Anyway, good to see you get up and start running again when knocked down. It won\'t feel so bad in 6 months when it\'s all forgotten and you\'re enjoying a rex again. Think of the future rather than what\'s already happened.
It was a hard lesson to learn, but since the aquaplaning I now drive much slower in conditions of low tyre grip such as rain, snow and ice and the AE86 runs on good quality tyres with plenty of tread.
Laeeq,
Darn.... just gotto this happened to you.... Sorry to hear that... and hope that your FD will revive asap....
May the rotor be with yaaaa....
