Title: FD & Ram Air?????
Post by: Jono FD3 on December 21, 2005, 10:42:00 AM
Over the last few weeks I\'ve read alot about how important intake temps are in prolonging the life of the FD engine!!!
As a result I\'m looking at making a V mount setup, using a bigger than standard IC (but not full width) and making a custom induction set up using the remaining space alongside the IC, creating a super cold intake also forcing the cold air to the turbos.

Basicaly something like this:

Please let me have your opinoins guys, Love it or hate it, it\'s up to you!!!
Cheers
Jono

Thats how the design of our V Mount has changed. We have moved the intercooler far over, still keeping the same size. This then allows part of the central nose cone mouth to become a vent for the induction.

This is the same idea as i used on my FMIC. I moved the rad and IC over to create a space for the intake ducts to fit along side. Gave me loads of air but there is only gap of about 1"1/2 left with the rad touching the oposite side chasis leg.

The idea is good and mine works great but the intercooler will have to be very short in length therefore reducing the cooling effect. ( the wider the cooler the better it will perform as a heat exchanger)

Sweet, I was expecting to be :flamed
Yea I understand what you are saying Scot, I\'m going to have to have a look around for IC\'s that would do the job and look the part!!

Look out car here I come!!!! :cool

Some IC\'s Ive found that should do the job. Might have to have a slight redesign with the layout of the setup!! Thinking about the one on the right 460mm x 160mm x 90mm what do you think???
