Title: What would you do whilst having a rebuild to prevent it going bang again?!
Post by: M@r]{ on December 20, 2005, 12:08:02 PM
After some advice / tips on preventing my engine from requiring a rebuild again.  It should be going in anytime now, but im worried that having spent all this money I just wont have the confidence to drive it like it should be in case something goes wrong again.  Also would like to do as much as possible to help prevent it going bang again.

I understand that improving cooling can help?  With this in mind I have already bought a scooped CF bonnet (looks good too :) )   So what else should I do?
After market Rad?
Water Spray?  I already have a Trust Front Mounted Intercooler.  Anything else apart from cooling that could help keep things ‘together’ ?

thanks

Water Injection should supposedly ward off det by cooling the combustion champers down, this is if you dont have it mapped with water injection and just add it in addition, ie. after the re-map, it may knock a few HP off but should keep you safer. Set you back about 200quid for a shurflo 140psi pump,  all the necessary switches and tubing. Can install it youself and doesn\'t need to be done during a rebuild. If you want a phone number for a friendly shurflo dealer then let me know, they also provide rebuild kits, and spare parts, like the upper housing for when you over tighten your connectors and put a 3 inch crack in it  :3Confused
