Title: Any recommended make of gauges?
Post by: probedb on December 20, 2005, 10:01:23 AM
Hey all,

Just looking at getting a boost gauge and a water temp gauge when I get my rex. What makes would people recommend.

Was looking at Defi and Blitz originally but they\'re so damned expensive. Is there anything else I can look at that\'s going to be good and possibly cheaper.

Cheers :)

Paul.

I would say Autometer Pro Comp, as I have one and it works and easy to set up :)

Edit: About 15quid second hand

Autometer is good and cheap.

A company called DC Dezigns sell them cheaper than most.

Get on to ebay, and just type in RX7. when I was on there last night there was a set of 3 HKS guages, 1 water temp, 1 oil temp & 1 boost guage going at a reasonable price.

Yeah I noticed them but they\'re a totally non-standard diameter :( Not 52mm or 60mm.

I\'ll have a look around Summit Racing for Autometer gauges, always been quite good there.

Cheers :)

:yes Think they are my favourite, but are mucho dollars. You could try demontweeks they sell a range called smiths. I nearly bought one, black or white faces and reackon they would suit the dash of an FD well. Picture is of the boost gauge, and it cost £35.70(exc VAT) :Thumbs-up

If your looking at the Autometer guages, get on to Ebay.com and have a look there!! the Autometer guages are being sold for $48 each instead of £48 - £55 :spank !!!

Yes I know people will say you\'ll have to pay import duties and all that :Talking1 , but if you ask them to tag the package as a gift item  :Giggle you pay £00:00 import duties, and don\'t let anyone tell you otherwise!!!! I just imported an uprated Exedy clutch kit from the states for £210 deliverd with no duties as it was marked as a gift :Nono!  :yes  :Thumbs-up , and it arrived in a week of paying :rollin !!!

Omori water temp and boost gauges, the last two I have left after selling the others to grinder!

there\'s the water one, boost is obviously same style. the boost gauge will need a new vacuum hose, the old one was a bit tatty.

the paint around the outer face has a couple of marks but could be touched up. I also have a 3 slot din holder that fits them.
