Title: Apexi / Blitz inaccurate boost reading
Post by: wedgiekray on December 16, 2005, 02:06:47 PM
Hi Folks,

Only just noticed this in a moment of boredom, the reading i get on the blitz controller is nearly always marginally more than on the ecu, this isnt too big a problem with low boost but the differences become greater towards the top end of the boost range, about 0.93 on the apexi is 1.00 on the blitz, i plumbed a hose onto a uim nipple for the controller, is this generally more accurate than the ecu, or vice versa. Since im running 1.10 i dont want to find im actually running 1.00.

Cheers for the help

Found this on rx7club, ..

"You correct in that what the map sensor reads in correct to the PFC for tuning, HOWEVER its not the accurate boost. There are many old discussions in the PFC section that all come to the comclusion that the PFC reads the map sensor wrong which is why the PFC reading is off as compared to a gauge....with the stock map sensor anyway

Pretty much everyone I\'ve ever talked to said thier PFC was a little lower than thier mechanical gauge"

So sounds like what i\'m seeing is alright then.

If it is the Blitz SBC with the green and black face then I can tell you they do read a little higher than actual boost. I say this from seeing one\'s readings during a mapping session.

Hi Freddy, its the SBC-ID III, maybe most aftermarket controllers read a little higher than the ecu, would be interesting to hear some input from others using a stock map sensor and a different brand controller.
