I\'m in farnham mate and the other halfs in godalming so pretty close if you don\'t have any luck sorting it I might be able to take a look, not promising anything but can\'t hurt to look.

I had an annoying knock at the back of the car, after checking everything suspension related to no avail I found that it was the big heat shield above the back box which had fractured across its mounts. ( you have to drop the back box to inspect it properly)

I also have the same sort of knocking from the rear, how long do these bushes last ie. miles ? because i doubt mine have never been changed.

I have similar, but Dave at Thames Valley MOT checked all the bushings and mounts with me, and we couldnt find anything at all.

When I was trying to sort mine I was also advised to check that the anit roll bars where still tight. Check that all your suspension arms are tight and in good shape too.

Lots of different mounts to check :  suspension, diff, gearbox, engine.
For info, one of my bushes had gone completly and I could hear a knocking over tiny bumps, like going over a drain cover, so as you can hear yours on a big bump then maybe its not suspension bushes?

ok, I\'m pretty sure my clonking/knocking is just coming from the drivers side front suspension... i\'ll have to take a look at the weekend, what should i be looking for, loose bolts?

To check my suspension bushes I jacked up the car (make sure it\'s uber stable) and rock the wheel top to bottom to see if any movement, repeat this with rocking left and right.  If everything is tight and there is reasonable movement then it\'s a bush or two.

Look for anything loose or even cracked too.
