Title: Expensive trip to IKEA (clutch problem)
Post by: iaint on September 07, 2003, 03:09:40 PM
Hi all,

My clutch disappeared yesterday (Saturday) as I arrived in the IKEA
car park. At first I though (hoped) it was just a heat related
problem but after a wander around the shop it still hadn\'t come back
at all - peddle just disappeared to the floor and it was impossible
to get into gear.

Had a look under bonnet and noticed a greasy patch of something on
the underside near the firewall on the passenger side. Got the
girlfriend to press the clutch peddle and noticed a spray of high-
pressure fluid squirting from the edge of one of the pipes. Got car
towed home (extra charge as they needed 2 vehicles - 1 to get me out
of the underground car park and one to load me onto to get home!).

Have taken a piccy of the offending pipe:

the circle is where the leak is.

The top and bottom ends appear to be crimped into a bit that is used
to join it to hard pipes at both ends so I assume it\'s a complete
part rather than just a case of replacing the hose.

I managed to detatch (and reattatch) the top end, quite simple but a
bit fiddly to get back on. The bottom end is buried quite deeply
and would probably need to be done from below so I\'ll need to get a
jack and axle stands from somewhere.

Main point of the post is: Does anyone know what the part is called
and it\'s number - I\'ll try to get one this week from the local mazda
dealer and try to get the car back on the road asap as I don\'t
really fancy spending too much time commuting by train!

Cheers,

Iain
