Post by: D3S on December 12, 2005, 03:21:30 PM
I did an oil change on Saturday, ok the car had been running for awhile but when i changed the oil there was a fairly strong smell of fuel  :2Rolleyes i havent noticed any smoking and the car is running and pulling strong, not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing.

I\'ve noticed it every oil chainge I\'ve done aswell!!  :2Confused
Only very slight though. I know that engines that run heavy on fuel (big webbers or heavily fueld cars) do tend to have a fuel smell in the oil, this could be the reason for doing services at very low milage intervals on the 7\'s as it affects the oils properties??????

Probably gonna get shot down in flames by some boffin now :flamed !!!

Prob haven\'t helped much!!!

It\'s fuel dilution, wrecks the oil!

It causes the oil to lose viscosity more rapidly so if you\'re getting it, change your oil very regularly as it thins very quickly.

So what causes that? i am changing my pretty often around 2500 miles due to the mileage on the car and no rebuild yet.
