Hi all,
Does anyone know how good the TRUST/GREDDY JDM 3 ROW V-SPL INTERCOOLER is?
I am also thinking of modding the IC so it sits at more of a "v" angle with some cutting and welding lol as i what i want to do is make sure the rad gets just enough cold air as the IC
Cheers
Gavin
Dragon sell a V-mount intercooler and rad kit for £950. A very competitive price, considering it includes an intercooler AND radiator.

I did a bit of research myself and asked a few people on here (thankyou again) about these intercoolers and it depends what you are planning really. I am led to believe that they are not recommended for the stock twin turbos, and that the 2 row is mucho better. But if you are going or already are running a single then i dont think you could buy a better front mount :yes as for converting it into a \'v\' mount, why not as Nik says get the one from dragon which is made by radtec. It looks a good bit of kit, at a very reasonable price and they have done all the hard work to make a design that fits and works. ;)
Cheers, Andy
Is that plus VAT?
Gav
I dunno - best phone Ross and ask him
Its just i have been offered one for a really good price but its a 3 Row and i will be running stock twins. So whats the reason why you cant or its not good to run a three row?
Regards
Gavin
I run a Trust 3 row IC. I rate it
Scott
I run one too, big job to fit and the pipeing can be made to fit a stock twin quite easily with the right silicon joiners and alu pipes. Mine a normal front mount and temps are pretty good and there isn\'t any wait for boost. Why are you thinking of making it a v-mount? Not really sure if its a good idea.
Have you got any photos ???

It was just what i was told by the person i bought it off Gavin mate, but it looks like i could have been wrong, he was selling another one and Dave was interested and emailed him and he said the same thing to him, about it not being suitable. The thing that backed it up for me was i read that the 2 row is for 15psi and below and the 3 row for 15psi and higher, but i guess as i write this it doesnt make much of reason to not fit it??? :Confused3 :Confused3, i guess it must be okey if both Scott and Shaun run with one, but dont you guys run high boost aswell??
Anyone got a picture of the dragon v mount, on a car and before its been fitted
G@ndy I run stock boost LOL.............so far
Scott
Well the reason i was looking to do it as a V mount is well, from what i gather is the Rad will be mounted behind the IC or am i wrong?
At the same time the airflow on my front bumper or mouth of it is not huge so i was going to angle or tilt back the IC so create more air to the rad as well. Thats if it stays in the stock position, just i have a thing about cooling is more important than charge temps hence i want to keep it as cool as possible.
Hope that makes sense :Confused3 ?
Cheers

This is the v-mount kit that dragon sells. (This is the kit for the twin turbo - as i understand it the kit for the single turbo differs as the pipework is in a slightly different position for the inlet)
I ran mine at 7psi fine while it was still running on rebuild boost. The only real difference with the 2 and 3 cores is the cooling capacity it can acheive The 3 will be better for higher boosts because it can deal with more air. Im still running stock rad behind my intercooler without too much hassle, but will be upgrading it next year. The biggest advantage to v mount is the shorter pipe length and the rad getting fresh cold air. Both are alot of work to get installed. If the dragon kit comes with everything then i\'d go for that if you are only getting the intercooler on its own.

Well as much as i like to support the vendors on here, i think i may have ago doing a custom V mount i am not to worried about the headaches i may cause lol i just want to see what you can create yourself and it should not be to much of a mission to do once the bumper is off and all the other bits and bobs at the front.
Once i have a nice clear space to work on it will make things alot easier.
Cheers

Well matey it looks like you run higher boost from your picture:rollin I dont know why i thought you were running mucho bar, must have been the afternoon sherry

Good on yer mate, goodluck with it and let us know how you get on, this picture is from a guy in america that converted a front mount to a \'v\' situation but i am led to believe that he left the rad in the stock position. he did it all himself and on a budget (think he said $500) and all of the bits and bobs including the cooler was from ebay and it looks very smart. Shame you werent after a 3 row about a week ago the guy im buying mine off had another one for sale, and he was going to do a deal :p
Wicked stuff mate, thats what i am looking at, except keeping the rad in the stocking position but changing the angle so it faces the other way..500 dollars thats a very small budget for a mint job.
Think i am looking at more than that lol
Gav
I have also heard that RX7 uprated intercoolers are generally more expensive than other cars because of the rad being moved behind it, so they allow for this in the design and let more air flow through it????????????? but then that could be the sherry again :Giggle :rollin
Dude you got to lay off that sherry again lol
