Title: Removing Air Conditioning Condensor
Post by: nikp on December 09, 2005, 09:47:57 AM
Hi guys,

Is it possible for me to do a DIY job of removing the Air Conditioning Condensor/Radiator thingy? If so, how? And how easy?

Cheers.

The only hard bit is removing the coolant safely. It is a criminal act to just release the gas into the enviroment, so you will need to get the system emptied before you take it to bits.

Other than that its not too bad a job, the pump can be easily removed and the replacement belt is listed in the book at the autofactors :). Its been a long time since i removed the rad and i think you may need to take quite a bit off stuff out to get to the bolts, but i may be wrong.

Allows engine to rev a bit quicker too !

It\'s only the little rad type thing that i want to remove for now.

So - darn! I basically have to get a specialist to remove the gas - I can\'t just go willy nilly un-doing the nuts/bolts!

It shouldnt cost much to have a guy purge the system, just do a serch on yell and have a ring around !

Dead easy to take the aircon rad off. You have to remove the plastic undertray first.

Hardest part is the pump itself, but can be done with standard tools...

(i was lucky, mine had discharged itself...)

Hi,

If it\'s one of the later ones, i.e. 1995 onwards, then I would be interested in buying the condensor off you?

Cheers,

Richard
