Im planning a engine rebuild and performance upgrade in january, but i need help in deciding what to do from the more knowledgable people or vendors on here, likely cost would be good.
The only mods i have at the moment is apexi fc, larger catback make unknown, twin apexi filters.
Dont want to go too mad as it will mostly be for road use, and maybe the odd strip run just for fun, want it to be driveable.
Budget up to £4500.ish
With that budget. I assume you will remain with the twin set up. In which case, have the motor ported, go non sequential, with an uprated intercooler (not necessarily a front mount but do so if budget allows), radiator (but not a must), then a remap session. What clutch do you have? You could probably get away with not uprating the injector set up, ignition system or requiring water injection .
Of course, it also depends on who will be doing the rebuild for you. If it is one of the rotary shops then you will not see much change from £4500 to do any real upgrades. Or did you mean you have a budget of £4500 for performance mods after the rebuild?
If you have Apexi, look at fueling, uprating turbos, intercooler.
Budget is total cost for rebuild and performance mods within that budget could go up to £5500 to £6000 tops. It would be one of the rotary shops doing the work.
I have a standard clutch.

What sort of power etc are you after?????????? :wiggle
I guess as ive not ever been in a high bhp Rex, im looking for around 350 375 atrw dont know if thats within my budget.

It\'s not uncommon for FD\'s to get 340ish bhp (At the fly) with a cat back, induction kit and apexi power fc mapped by a specialist - so it shouldn\'t be too hard to see you desired power figure.
Those atw figures would be asking for quite a lot - from stock twins. Also, the power would be on a total different wavelength to your now fairly stock FD. Unless you mean 370 at the flywheel?
All in all if you were going for 370hp at the flywheel then approximate budgets; £3500 for rebuild and porting, £500 for clutch, £450 for side mounted intercooler, £400 for new aluminium radiator followed by a £350 mapping session. You are in the £5k bracket.
If you were going for 370hp at the wheels with stock twins then you can probably add a few hundred for 1600cc sec Injectors, couple hundred for fuel pump, again a couple hundred for water injection, front mount intercooler followed by 3 bar map sensor and ignition system. Also - you can kiss goodbye to the turbo\'s being reliable as they were designed to run half that power.
Just ask Mr Warthog - he will set the record straight. ;)

Freddy is spot on with the mods list as well as water injection and swirl pot apexi pfc etc. If you want my power on stock twins you have to be prepared for it all to go bang. The mods I\'ve done are all towards going single so no money has been lost. To go single you are going to have to do them anyway or most of them. I have set my RX up so that I can put a T51 kia on it when I want to with about only two more mods - uprated fuel regulator and up my secondary injectors from 1300 to 1680\'s.
You have got to understand I am mad, I push the engine to the max on the Drag Strip and the road ( for that read private roads ) I\'ve just had a recon box fitted as I wore the other one out. Racing on track or strip is expensive and if you want big power you have to pay for it and balance all your mods correctly. The problem I have now is laying the power dower down getting traction but thats about taking drag wheels with me and changing to drag suspension prior to going to the track. :wave

343 at fly, mapped by Pip with above mods (12psi tops). Well chuffed
Cheers
