Hi all.
Just a quicky, if you have a 95 Seven and want to PFC it how do you tell if its a 8 or 16 bit?
Chris
99% of 1995 cars will be 8-bit Chris. If you look at the loom the 8-bits have 4 connectors to the ecu, 16-bits cars have 3 from recollection...
Yup - I have a Jan 1995 car. 8bit ecu with 4 connections :)
Thanks guys...
I\'ve just been told the change was made about Jan 1996. It confused me with PFC\'s saying the change year was 95.
I have another question :)
What is the diffrence between the 414-Z002 and the 414-Z004?
I know the Z002 is the old version but they must have changed some thing to bring out another model?

Yep, 8-bit til Dec 1995, 16-bit from Jan 1996 on. Basically if yu have an FD3S-4xxxxx chassis number you are 16-bit. There are allegedly some \'cross over\' cars which are 1995 and 16 bit vice versa...

I dunno what/if there are board changes, but I think the base maps are different? Aaprt from that, dunno...
So i\'d be best of just buying a new one rather than second hand?
I wont run mine on the base map so I shall be putting it in when I get remapped. Every car is different (even slightly so when mods are the same.) So a remap is wise and will make the best of your car - so I guess a second hand one mapped to your car should be ok?
I did hear they run a little lean at high revs on the base map??
But when remapping don\'t you start with the base map and change it to suit your car?
Yes you do!! forgot about that lil bit!
(I prefer to buy new myself though)
Surely there is a way to reset the PFC to the default base map? I mean, people have brought 2nd hand ones for years, I don\'t honestly know if they get reset and then remapped or wether the tuner uses the existing as the base. I would have thought it gets reset?
The commander has the option to reset if I remember.
There is an "initialise all data" option that should allow it to be reset to factory setting. I presume this is for the ECU and not for the Commander displays etc but dont quote me.
Have been running mine on the base map for over a year now, havent seen any problems.
The main reason is living in Narfalk there is nobody near who can map it.
Gareth
Ah yes - it all goes into Japanese when you go into that menu - I remember now (i feel faint! :D )
Yeah, I was gonna stick mine back in as I wasnt sure! I heard about going lean and thought also that it was for Jap 101 RON fuel? However I was also told that I can remove my pre-cat (uk spec) and the PFC will compensate for it, better than the stock ecu.
Still with me!! :rollin
Hmm, thats weird. Thought mine was in Engrish and its a Jap one.
Here is the instruction booklet in English http://www.apexi-usa.com/pdfInstallation/12.pdf
I have been told that the Power FC running base map should be fine as it runs very rich, mine pops and bangs a lot when warm although its a Jap car rather than a UK one. Mods include K and N panel filter, blitz dump valve, silenced decat (which passed the MOT lol !!!), aftermarket exhaust. Have an uprated SMIC to go on so should be ok but will have a word with Pip at WGT before fitting as I have heard uprated Injectors mentioned.
If you are unsure mate give Pip a ring at WGT, Carl on here or Tim at RXMotors. Any of them should be able to help.
Deffo recommend the Power FC over the stock one because the car shouldnt run lean when fitted, that was one of the reasons I got mine at the same time as buying my car.

Good stuff mate, looks like my PFC and Commander are going back in the car - I run on Optimax anyway and don\'t boot it over 4,500 as my 2nd tubby still aint sorted! :bandit
