Title: Throttle/Accelerator Cable Replacement
Post by: DarranJones on November 30, 2005, 07:47:17 PM
Hi guys,

I\'m in need of some info on how to remove and replace the throttle cable in my rx-7, and to be honest I\'m getting a bit desperate now. :eek

I\'ve looked on iluvmyrx7.com, bought some service manuals, searched on google.com, and I still haven\'t come up trumps.

I just can\'t see how it was installed in the first place. I\'d have thought that one of the ends of the cable would come off in some way and you could then pull it through it\'s outer housing. Or do you have to pull the entire thing, with outer housing, through the firewall and replace the lot.

I would just take it to my local Mazda place and pay for it to be replaced but the cars undrivable and so I can\'t actually get there.

Can anyone help at all? All I need is some pointers on the procedure.

Thanks in advance,

Darran.

usually you replace the whole cable (the inner and outer as one) Not having seen a third gen cable before I can\'t comment on specifics but usually its a matter of removing a clip at the pedal end and loosening an adjuster at the throttle body then removing the lot from the firewall and any other mounting clips etc. and replacing with a new part.
