It\'s a 1987 D reg EGI - anyway to check if it has an LSD?
If its a UK I\'m 99.99% positive it wont have an LSD, easiest way to check is to jack it up so both rear wheel sare hanging and turn one wheel, if the other counter rotates its not an LSD. (I\'m 99% certain I\'m correct on my method, but feel free to correct me!)

do a burn out. if both light up happy days
Jack the car and rotate one of the wheels as per what Brett said. If both wheels rotate the same way it\'s a LSD. If one rotates forwards and one rotates backwards it\'s an open diff.
Also if you do a slow turn on full lock the inside wheel should drag. Try it on gravel if your diff is tired.
Pretty sure it depends on the trim level as well. I had an EGI with LSD. Was a \'Sport\' on the V5. The S4\'s all had clutch type LSD\'s which wore out, the S5\'s had viscous but only the turbos came with them.

That\'s not what i mean\'t. Assuming you were supposed to have one and assuming it hasn\'t been messed with:
What i mean is all the FC\'s that came with LSD\'s had either clutch or viscous types depending on series. But no, not all of them came with LSD\'s.
