Title: Engine Compression?
Post by: Grizzly on November 27, 2005, 12:57:56 PM
When looking at an Fd\'s Engine Compression test does this sound about right.

9\'s is fresh rebuild

8\'s is 20-30k on a rebuild

7\'s is 30-50k on a rebuild

6\'s is rebuild due

Also the diffrence in the three figures on ft and back rotors shold be no more than .5 if so than its also on its way out?

Is this correct?

Chris

Think there a little high, 8 would be good on a new engine, I know Knightsports look for 8.5 on a new engine, would guess at a rebuild would be around 5, some cars run nice on 6 for some time. This is also on steel seals, 1,2 and 3 piece also make a difference, especially on ceramics

Ok, does this rule still apply on the cars first engine?

Is it also correct thats when they get into the 6\'s you should look for diffrences between the rotor faces? i.e. 6.2,6.8,6 would not be good. or would this still have life in?
