Title: king springs
Post by: ska on November 15, 2005, 04:38:26 PM
seen a few rx4\'s on the austrailian sites have king springs up front, checked them out and they dont seem to do any for the rx4, I know the rear suspension can be lowered with parts intended for the mk2 escort, so does anyone know if the same applies to the front? or perhaps theres another car that has a similar setup??

cheers.

you could convert to coilovers, its fairly simple if you can find someone who can weld (and weld well, I must add) you have a choice of hundreds of dirt cheap springs then.

you weld some threaded tubes to the outside of the strut onto which screw new spring perches and then you swap the top spring mount for a new ally one that fits the smaller springs. Its a little bit more complicated than that but it\'s not that difficult once you have all the bits in front of you. Its a very common conversion on MK2 escorts and the like so anyone who can sort out those should be well capable of doing an rx strut.

the collection of bits (ignore wheel studs) that I used + finished strut (ignore fancy stut top .. shouldn\'t be needed if you use the rx4 top mount and strut)

Do the rx4 struts use damper inserts? If so any idea where I could find uprated ones??
