Title: Turbo pipes
Post by: Jono FD3 on November 13, 2005, 07:38:17 PM
I\'ve owned an FD for 11 months and I\'ve noticed the shape of the y pipe and thought "That can not be efficient!!" regarding the way the two pipes converge in to the single outlet! also with doing a RR day yesterday I thought that improving this section would free up a few ponies (Yes I\'ve got the power bug!!) ?
Has anyone made a custom y pipe from the twins to the IC? and does it make a difference to output?
I was looking at doing mine in stainless steel to get a bit of bling under the bonnet and run 2 seperate pipes ( one from each turbo ) Around the engine (Root not decided yet) and join them into a single 3" o.d. pipe for the inter cooler. Sound feisable, has anyone done it and power gains?

Any coments welcome  :)
Thanks in advance,
Jono

not that ive heard of. Sounds like an interesting idea though. To be honest, i would think the IC and stock rubber pipes would cause a lot more restriction and turbulence than the Y pipe so my first point of call would be those. AFter that i might start thinking about optimising my Y pipe.
