Title: just bought an ecu
Post by: FD3SNuttah on November 10, 2005, 04:31:32 PM
Knightsports ecu (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8013042869&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT)

Dunno what to expect, (it says chip not Ecu) shows a pic of a whole ecu    either way for 15 dollars it should still be a bargain!  anyone got a knightsports ecu?

ok i have buyers PARANOIA now....

Well for about 20 quid i may have just bought a chip (its not a real knightsports one)...  i am thinking hes copied the maps of a knightsport ecu and is just knocking out flashed chips which you exchange with the standard thing?

luckily my brother in law is an electrical genius (he tests and checks morgan/jaguar and a few other makes\' ecu and switches) so i wont have a problem with getting it fitted / checked.

I\'d imagine it just fits in the same slot as the standard ROM.
Sorry to say this Nas, but I contacted this bloke about 10 times asking him to confirm the chip numbers and never got a response from him!  If they are flashed then all is well, I assume they are for a N374 ECU then?

Yeh the advert clearly states that its for the n374..  thats what i should have in my car (going by research)..

The worst that can happen eh??! lol lets see, i start the car up and it says "hello Nas" and takes off turbo boosting down the road and then fires an ejector seat!! LOL

I havent tried emailing him yet.... The ebay payment server is down... Brett explain what you mean by chip numbers?

N374 is the JDM ECU number, the stock TII ECU should be N380, I dont know if the chip is compatible?  Needs someone with more FC ECU knowledge than me to comment.

You need to take a look at the ECU in the passenger foot well, but I\'m 99.999999% certain yours will be an N380 as its a uk car you have.

the cars are the same. ish uk have a bit more emision s**t than jdm ones not sure about usa. But we all know that there emission laws are as a**l as ours

JDM one has a tighter set of tolerances on the knock levels so requires better quality fuel. (No more 95ron...Yes Stu I\'m looking at you!)

is that it!?! well beign a "weekend thrash" i dont think i have a problem with that. besides i thought we had to run it on optimax anyway!!??  that reminds me i have to pay for it!! 15.50 for cost and shipping including tax i reckon thats gonna be around 20 quid all in,

I will bring this thread up from the dead when i get round to fitting it (one of the things i will do after it gets sprayed (looking at soon after new year ,, been hitting the overtime!!!)

If I were you mate I\'d look at buying a 2nd hand N374 type ECU, must be a few of the specialists with them knocking around, that way you know the chip will work in there and you have a stock ECU to use should the need arise. :yes
