Title: Calibration
Post by: johnf on August 29, 2003, 04:42:35 PM
My 3rd gen was imported new by it\'s previous/original owner and came with a MPH only speedo.

It appears to be out - I\'ve had ppl follow me and when I\'m showing 30 they are doing 35+. I also went on a regular journey today that I know is 90 mls, only in th rex it showed 81.

Bearing in mind I got a speeding fine for doing 40 in a 30 I\'m a bit pissed, so I think I would like to get it fixed.

Any suggestions who to approach and if it is likely to be a big job?
I live in the midlands.

The only good thins I spose it that my overall mileage could be showing 10% less than it actually is:)

Thanks

John  a device is normally installed behind the Instrutment binnacle to convert the pulses from Kmph to Mph, it has three wires tapping into the speedo wires, this is probably faulty , you can get a new one from various SVA conversion companies, or the other problem could be your rims, are you running non standard wheels?? coz if you are running a larger rim like 18in or higher this can throw the speedo out

The older convertors are not a accurate as the ones used nowadays.

Thanks for the replies:

The car is running on standard wheels and tyres.

It\'s a late 98. so I hope that\'s not an \'older\' converter.
