Title: Suspension Options...
Post by: Red and Single on November 04, 2005, 06:55:22 PM
Had a new set or rubber fitted the other day and noticed my nearside front shock is leaking oil  :reallymad

I figure if one has gone they are all likely to be on the way out so I might as well replace the lot.... more wallet surgery  :spank

Now I am currently running standardish height with Ohlins struts and mazdaspeed springs and the ride is firm but quite compliant. I don\'t imagine it\'s far away from a stock feel.

I want to replace with something similar in terms of ride, but I fancy coilovers for the height and ride adjustment, it needs dropping an inch or 2 all round  :cool

I\'ve had Tein before on my FTO and found them to be very hard indeed (although it was the track orientated RA setup). Does anyone have the cheaper (and softer I believe) Tein setup ?? If so your opinions on it ??

What other options are out there ?? Anyone care to recommend anything ??
I\'m in no rush as it handles fine but will replace sooner or later.

Thanks for your help...

Not gonna guess on this one :) But I will be fitting some HKS hypermax II coilovers soon, i\'ll let you know what they\'re like. Loads of people running Teins on here I believe so should get a response soon, believe Clive (Shyauto) does a good deal on these, EDFC in car control looks cool :cool

I recently had a new set of rubber fitted and was off for an alignment as my next port of call as I\'m not happy with my cars handling, it\'s good but it isn\'t on rails like it should be.

Then I spotted the crocked shock and so put the alignment on hold until new suspension is on :D

Can\'t wait to get it ordered now....

One thing this car is getting very good at is persuading me to get out my credit cards :rollin

Dave,

I\'m running Tein HA\'s and have nothing but praise for them,on the softest setting the ride is very close to stock but this depends on what size rim your using and the profile of the tyre. For the track you can adjust them harder to get the handling balance how you like it.I\'ve heard nothing but good things about the new Tein Flex kits for the FD so you won\'t go far wrong there.

My GTR is running HKS Hypermax2 units and I don\'t like these, the ride is hard on even the softest setting, adjust them down further and prepare for a bone shaking ride, the Teins strike a much better balance between ride comfort and handling.

Hope this helps.....

Clive sold me and fitted my Tien Flex system .......... I have found them excellent. Damper settings fully tight at the front and setting 5 at the back for track and 5 at the front and ten at the back for road use...... easy peasy.

The HA ones are even more superior ........ yes ?

The HAs are an older model that have now been replaced. I have a worn set on my red FD.

We\'ve sold a lot of sets of TEINs this last year for lots of different Jap stuff and have had some very positive feedback. My ring compadrez Max and Phil have the high TEIN stuff and are well impressed.

Being TEIN dealers we will match any price advertised too for all FULL club members. Thats got to make joining MRC worth while for any one who\'s going to buy a set of coilovers any time soon.

The HA is an older Tein damper as Rich says,I\'ll probally go for a flex kit when mine are worn or maybe have the HA\'s rebuilt, depends on cost though...
