Title: what kind of price on a rebuilt rx7
Post by: tonner_notts on November 01, 2005, 11:12:50 PM
right after lookin at many cars, ive decided on the rx7,
but my budget is 5k, would i get a decent car for this, possibly with rebuild? or maybe buy one that needs a rebuild for 3.5k maybe read somewhere can get them done for 1.5k that right?
is it mostly the engines that u need to watch or are all parts etc expensive?
im currently payin 1600 quid on my wrx 2001 for insurance and got a quote for 800 quid on a sunny gtir, where do you think the rx7 will stand on insurance i want one not modified but with nice exhaust and induction etc,

You will be lucky to get a rebuilt one (and one in good nick aswell) for 5k.....but you never know as its coming upto christmas...there could be a bargain out there.

Have a look in the for sale section on here at andy p\'s c-west kitted silver rx7....he wants £8.5k for that......and thats a total bargain for all the kit it has on it....gorgeous car!

If your\'e serious about an RX the first thing I\'d suggest getting some insurance quotes before you go any further.

You could be in for a shock............

Good luck

I would say £5k would get you either a good condition car with higher mileage needing a rebuild soon or a car with a good engine and shoddy bodywork. You could always buy a mint and modified FC3S!

Hey Tonner,

I live in Notts and there are a few rotor heads in and around the area :3gears-rh If you want to meet up and have a check over some local rx\'s and a chat get in touch :yes Oh yes and I\'m sure I can point you in the right direction for a rebuilt rx, but it\'ll be more like 6k not 5k, as 5k which would be asking for trouble if you could find one for that price  ;)

Good luck with your search,

Paul:)

I paid 5 k for mine knowing it needed a rebuild, 2k ish for rebuild new housings seals back-plate, front plate etc, it was a lot to pay for a car needing a rebuild, but it had 17 wheels.new tyres, 255 40s,  new respray,
but above all it is a manual type X, with full Bose, leather seats, cruise control and sunroof, just what i was looking for, the engine failed not through wear, but corrosion in the cooling system,at 49k now done 57k and is ab-fab!
Good luck Bob
