Title: Series one racing
Post by: kiwimazda on October 29, 2005, 09:32:49 PM
We did a sprint at Lydden Hill race circuit this morning on a very wet and greasy track.
Apart from a little understeer corrected be massive right foot oversteer the day went well and we walked away with 1st in class and 32 over all out of 70.
Well chuffed.
Now the car goes on more of a diet ( and me) Loads of stuff to come out and have got my spare doors down to 10kg.
Next event in March I\'m off to Kiwiland to go shopping :burnout

Well done to you because this is about the car and the DRIVING.  :-)

Title: Specs
Post by: killeen on October 30, 2005, 09:49:14 AM
Can you give me a few specs on your car?  Are you running a limited slip diff or a welded one?  Bridgeport engine, standard brakes etc.  Would be interested to hear as building up a track day car.

Cheers

To many questions to little time.
Yes I am skippy on the FDMC site. Its a nickname that has stuck from work. The don\'t know the difference between Aussie or NZ.And I\'ve just clicked who you are Martin.
As for the car breif spec is
13b engine from WGT running 48ida down draught
Rest of spec stays with me but its not PP, that will come by 2007.
Adjustable front suspension
Racing Beat anti roll bar front and rear
Stainless Exhaust
Lsd
Groved discs up front, Standard in the rear

The car came to me already assembled and full credit goes to those before me.
We do have some big changes in the pipeline.
Fibreglass, perspex, bigger brakes, Close ratio box and others as well as putting on the 10kg doors fitting the roll cage and getting as much stuff on the car as low as possible to get the centre of gravity down.
A labour of love.
I will have some pics some time during the week so will post them asap
Cheers
Brian
Title: Bigger brakes
Post by: killeen on October 31, 2005, 08:29:06 AM
I am importing some 11" brakes on alloy hubs (if you are using MKI SIII struts, otherwise made from steel) from Selectmaz in Australia.  They use recon S5/S6 callipers if you are interested.  Includes pads, backing plates, S/S lines etc.

Killeen, My car is a B reg. not sure what series it is. That might sound stupid but I don\'t know. Does a pcd of 114mm help.
I feel stupid
Back home the first shape is a series one
Second shape series 2 and so on.
As for the brake up grade can you let me know a price.
Also what pads they are. PM me if you want.
Isn\'t it great the amount support you get from people youv\'e never met.
Thanks

No expert myself, but here goes.  pcd 114 sounds right and as far as I am aware the same as gsl in the states - 84, 85 model over here.  Mine is on a c plate as it came out in 86 - then it gets complicated - the registration year I think ran from September to August.  I am about to confirm prices with them as I have just got my car back from the painters so can start doing some more mods.

CP racing in the states do a sleeve that fits over the wheel spindle allowing you to fit a S4-5 disc and calliper - you will need to supply all the kit aside from mentioned sleeve and also the calliper mounting bracket.  The disadvantage is that you must use the early S4 disc/hub for the 4 x 114 pcd.  I believe this is non vented from what I can read on their site - meaning you would have to pay quite a lot for the aftermarket vented (if available).  Otherwise you need to get the later turbo II 5 x ? drilled to 4 x 114 pcd - pain in the but each time you need new discs.  Anyhow check it out and I will let you know a price hopefully by the end of the week.  http://www.cpracing.ca/ - just go to the mazda section and scroll down.

Cheers
Danny

I have just been out watching the night stages of the final round of the Brit rallychampionship. Some bloke called Higgins leading in a mitsi.
More to watch tommorow.
Now doing a budget to enter the clubman rally on next years event as it all happens no more than 50 miles from my house.
That is unless someone offered me bonkers money for my car.
Gravel rally in my rx would certainly be different for me as I only race on tarmac :burnout

What a waste of time going to warrick to race the dog. Left on time, arrived to late for weigh in due to weather. Track like quicksand and I won\'t race him on that poo. He might be a racer but he is still my pet.
Enough of that.
Called in to see Carl Hayward in Newbury on way back and had a good chat and some ideas.
Nice 3rotor engine sitting there that would look good in my car. Alas no cash yet.
However, I digress.
After talking to the minister of war and finance ( the wife ) my red terror will now do some sprints in the early part of next year and one Tarmac Rally at Abingdon near Oxford in June. Then it will be set up for forest to do our local forest rally. The budget has been set and we will do it.
I have navigated but never driven on a gravel rall and my co driver has never done a gravel rally at all.
Excellent.
Sponsors Needed

Brian the AutoSolo course was really narrow and tight. Add the rain, and it wasnt really suited to my car. I had a lot of fun of course, but not a good result!

I met 2 Aussies who arrived in a Gen2 that they are going to rally. Plus one of them has an RX-2 that will be coming over one day. I told him ( I forgot their names now) about this fourm so i hope they logon soon.

I think they have joined FDMC.

Things are moving along nicely.
The car has now been striped down to nearly a bare shell from the screen back to the rear bumper.
A lot of time has been spent removing all of Mazda,s finest wiring to those silly things that I don\'t need.
However somewhere in there, some little person has changed the wiring colours and when the cutters got cutting the earth was severed. Upon testing the brakes we had our own xmas tree going on back there.
Soon sorted that.
The doors have been finished and are to be painted. They now wheigh 11.5kg.
I tried to get them lighter but they would flex to much.
A fibreglass bonnet is being made when I get back from NZ so that will also help the weight.
Have a good Xmas all and a top new year. :guinness  :cheers

Just because I am out of the country I dosn\'t mean that development stops.
We now have a pair of adj top mounts and a spare set of rose jointed bottom arms.
A new 50mm carb to go on as well.
The silly thing is that they are alll in the UK waiting my arrival.
IT is hot hot hot here and Kuala Lumpur was even hotter. :flamed

Hi Brian, I have taken a mould from my 1978/9 RX7 bonnet and made a pre-preg fibreglass item with phenolic honeycomb core. Its very light and rigid too. You are more than welcome to borrow the mould if you want. I also have headlight cover moulds. Do you know where I can get a formed perspex rear tailgate window as the glass item is very heavy ?  cheers \'Gaylord\'

Thanks for the offer i will get in touch properly in the new year when we get back to the UK from NZ.
I was going to try and form my own rear perspex window and if I cant quite get it right I will use some subtle alloy bracing. Its all in my head how it will work so I will give it a go and let you know.

Well the car is no longer for sale.
I had a couple of genuine lookers and a few tire kickers.
We have 2 events in April and hope to bring it home in one piece.
The 51mm carb is now on and the water leak pluged.
The adj top mounts will be on by Sunday night then to get the caster/camber set to the factory racing series one settings.
The polycarb windows are just about done and should be in by next week.
Still working on the rear screen. Its a mongrel.

Well we are nearly ready to go again.
The piston eater is just about back to gether with only a small hand full of jobs to be done before a sprint on 9th March at Rushmoor arena in Farnborough.
Currently trying to get some supper soft sticky tyres to hide in the back of the van so they can be put on should the need arise.
The fibreglass bonnet has turned into a joke. It seems that local composite people dont want any work as they have plenty. I think not from what I saw at one place yet I was told they are flat out. Standing there doing nothing and not a piece of work in sight. Must have been some new invisible grp thyey were working on.
However over the next couple of weeks we should have a bonnet or two made by meeeee.
Ive kindly been lent a mould and will endevour to make mess of it myself.
2 weeks after this sprint I have another back at Longcross in Chertsey.
Hopefully the new tyres will help there as I was thrashed last time by a V6 Sierra thing with 2 turbos and 4wd.
We will see

What a day.
We finally got the car back together at about 10pm last night and then a small amount of painting first thing before the birds had coughed and sneezed.
Noise test was completed. 103db @ 4500rpm.

During the first run the car developed a nasty flat spot while accelerating. It was almost like it was flooding the engine. Then the powers to be said the car was to loud   But it passed noise test.

So to please the nation I put the "quiet" rear box on and they were happy.
They then re tested at the end of run 2. 102db @ 4500rpm.
They were still happy.
We got around the flat spot and raced with a light right foot off the start for the first 100 yds the nailed it.
2nd in class was the end result and I am thrilled with that.
No damage, just got to put petrol in it before the next event on 23 april and sort flat spot :3gears-lh
Title: Series one racing
Post by: kiwimazda on April 10, 2006, 07:12:59 PM
Might have sorted the flat spot.
After speaking to Pip at Wgt we looked at the fuel pressure only to find it was set to 6psi. Ouch.
This has been reduced and the next doors are now pleased to hear the car rev freely.  :evillaugh

you sound like an ideal next door neighbour ... maybee we should have an MRC neighbour swap scheme ... swap either your annoyed neighbour with a rotor head or vica versa .. the annoyed neighbours could all live next to each other and all the rotor heads could live next door and be as noisy as the like :D

... I\'ve even found a street sign to suit  :Giggle

Development continues. The headlights and assemblies are now out and some very nice covers back in their place.
New pads fitted up front and the lightwheight bumper fitted at the rear.
As I am trying to keep the car as origional looking from the outside ( for now :evillaugh ) There is not a lot more I can do.
We have a start number of 45 for next weekends event at Chertsey.
There is 11 in our class including the Mk2 Escort that won last weekend and a bit of a dark horse, a Honda Integra type R. The rest of them should be no problem as most were at Rushmore last weekend.
Out of the 11 only 6 of us are registered for championship points so  2nd in class would be a good result.

The next event after that is a sprint at Abingdon Air field near Oxford on 10th June

Post by: kiwimazda on April 23, 2006, 10:14:04 PM
Results are in.
The day was wet and it was very slippery.
Noise test was Ok and the first practice run saw a nice sideways drift through the turn only to run out of road. Ooops.
No damage and the rest of the day progressed well. The times were coming down well.
1st in class was a Honda integra Type R.
Now I\'m not making excuses but the guy in that car is very very quick, so I was well plesed with 2nd in class, 1st championhip contender for points and I beat the car that was 1st in class 2 weeks ago. He wasn\'t pleased as I found out he had a new engine and has invested around 30k on this car. Mine is no where near that.
But a good day was had by all and it is ready for the next outing in June.
Just have to change the diff oil and give it some petrol.

As of 10.30 last night the car lives.
An interesting devolopment in the Mazda vs Escort has also arisen.
It seems that my main competitor in his Escort has been a naughty boy  :spank
He will be given the choice this morning to come clean about his engine size or he will get it tested.
We got a tip off that he was running a 2.2 engine and his mate was 2.4  :Nono!
As it is the up to 2ltr class I dont quite see where they fit in.
I wouldn\'t normally worry but for the fact they have blabbed to the wrong person and started showing off about it and if some new person was in our class and trying hard to get somewhere then found that they were up against a couple of cheaters I dont think they would want to come back or would just start cheating. Its not good for the sport
I will keep you all posted about todays results

The results from yesterday are 2nd in class and no damage. Still a bit worried about the cooling on the engine but it was hot yesterday.
1st in class was, you guessed it a Mk2 Escort with a 2.2 engine.
He was challenged over his engine size and he said it was 2.0, so the officials said Ok mate we will leave you in that class. Can I smell sh1t or what.
So I am now going to get some slicks, take more weight out of the car and loose 15kg myself and  :spank his arse.
The next event is at Longcross on 15 July and then another at Debden on 16 July.
Definatly changing Flywheel and clutch before then as well.
Now Im really mad.
The next escort gets this!!!  :flamed

It lives!!!!
The last 2 weeks have been a nightmare.
We decided to get rid of all of Mazdas finest unused wiring.
When placed in a bag and weighed it was 10kg, then add to that the metal frame work from the dash and things that aren\'t needed like horns and brackets etc the loss was around 25kg.
The problem being that we snipped one wire to many and lost all power to the dash. After much head scratching the problem was solved an assembly continued. Once all together It fired first push of the starter button.
New top mounts have also been fitted to enable adjustment of caster and camber.
All going well I will have time to totally strip the front bumper and I found some underseal that needs scraping off.
One last thing to fit is the anti ford escort guns. I am not sure how to fit them under the front wings

What a weekend.
My head wasnt screwed on right on saturday. I lost the plot and we couldnt work out why I wasnt happy with the car.
It turned in like it should, stopped and accelerated and belched flame like it should, but I was still not happy.
After a stern bollocking from my chief spanner we realised that it was because we were going to another event on Sunday and I was just being a nob.
SO the first timed run went well and I was in 3rd place and in with a real chance of beating that pesky escort.
On the 2nd run the times came down a bit more.
On the 3rd and final run I was absolutly flying

until I over did it under brakes at about 100mph and performed a lovely 360 into more cones than an ice cream soft serve.
After the panel beating was done It was then noticed that I had managed to totally ruin 4 race tyres. The day worked out at £115 per mile.
Sunday saw us in Debden for their sprint.
This is a fantastic venue and I came away with max championship points, now leading the championship and kept the crowds on their feet with massive sidways action on four stufffed tyres and a good 360 burnout and scattering of cones for good measure.
However we now need to get four more rubbers as these are totaled.
A debrief with mr spanner and mr Fosters tonight will see a massive working bee on the car.
Blow the championship, class wins now please

The slicks were finally collected on Tuesday and a quick visit to Tim at RX Motors today got the 15" 7j OZ alloys. The rears fit a treat and so will the fronts once I get some longer studs so I can make use of the wheel spacers or the tyre will foul on the suspension strut.
A new rear spoiler was also sourced from tim and once this has been painted it will be fitted with a small gurney flap for added down force.
Beware Ford Escorts I\'m a coming:evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh

I\'m loving this thread, as Mark said though, some pictures would be great.

Got anywhere with that GRP bonnet then? I\'ve got a mate in composites who might be able to offer some advice if you need some.

Does anyone know how many MRC members are out there on the circuits? Would be great to get some more oldskoolers out to play.

Pics have to be less than 1100 x 1100 pixels or something like that. If you load them up into paint then go to IMAGE on the toolbar then ATTRIBUTES it should tell you how big it is, then shrink image as required.

Thanks guys. The slicks are 15" 205 & 235. I got 4 for £120.00 2 of them were new and the others had only done 5 miles. Slapped some tyre reviver/softner on the s/h ones.
The rims came from Tim at RX Motors. OZ 15" 7J. Had to get longer wheel studs for the front to get them away from the shocks and fitted a 18mm spacer.
Looking forward to :flamed an escort in the near future.
A points update shows me leading my class and the championship over all with 5 rounds remaining.
Win or loose this year it has been great fun but I wont be out to play much next year as all the wonga will be gone and the back garden looks like something from the Amazon rain forest.

Thanks for that.
Spent an hour today working on the front tyres. Cleaning all the crappy bits of rubber off and then applying several coats of tyre softner.
This stuff really stinks and I floated out of the workshop but the change in the rubber is already noticable. they are quite grippy to touch now but the rubber tends to leave black smudge marks on your hands and then on any thing you touch. Things like fridge when going for a beer, telly to watch the BTCC and then the curtains to sheild my vision of the abomination that is my back garden. When the wife got home she knew exactly where i\'d been in the house.
Just got to change the front pads and stick it on the trailer for next weekend.

We have just got back from returning the trailer/van and unloading.
It was a good day and the competition was Hot.
I had to try hard today and the end result was
1st in class and 15th overall amongst the single seaters.:god

I literally broke the competition.
A very quick 205 gti blew its gearbox and the BDA Escort broke its engine trying to keep up.:flamed

Sunday at Lydden saw 3rd in class but the times were as follows
Mk 2 escort 86.44
Honda type r 86.64
Me Rx          86.66
And I had to lift of the loud pedal after a wiggle out of one of the corners, so the win was to be had.

Apparently it was about £60 to run yesterday.  That seems quite a lot when you only get 3 goes around a coned off airfield, (1 min laps = £20 per minute). Maybe not be as cheap as i first thought.
what does it cost if you go to a proper track?
Title: Series one racing
Post by: MikeLMR on August 21, 2006, 04:56:36 PM
£60 will usually get you 150miles on a road rally ;) not quite the same and more limits on the car but still a hell of a lot of fun.

your local motorclub should be the first stop if you want to get started, although sprints and other stuff can have dedicated clubs.

It is a lot of fun. Lydden is my favorite circuit, pity its a good 2 hrs for us to get there.

I have only 3 events left this year at various places. Brands Hatch, Farnborough and Lydden Hill.
Then thats it.
The engine will need a freshen up and the car will either be sold to make way for a rotary westfield or get more power, bigger brakes etc etc.
If I keep the car it wont be out much at all as all the money has been spent unless I do a sponsorship drive which is looking like a good option.

20 sponsors at £250 for the year is what I am looking at.

But lets finish this year first
Title: Series one racing

Well its all on for Brands on Saturday morning. All that has to be done is fit the new rear spoiler that has now been painted and is ready to bolt, screw and glue on. There is a total of 50 entries throughout the classes so if I can finish in the top 15 I think that is a realistic target.
If not its no big deal as I am the only one registered for points in my class so I get 10pts anyway.

We are all loaded and ready to go. 2morrow gets us 10 pts away from winning the championship.
However if you all have been reading the posts on this thread you all saw the bits about the oversized 2ltr engine.
Well it raised its head again and from a different sauce???
Also another issue has come up.
I go up against this guy in 3 weeks and if it gets messy, I am going to park on the start line and not move until its sorted.
I hate cheaters and as a result I have also with drawn my intentions to get on the commitee of our championship next year.
But the end result is happiness as I  can either a) move the car up a class to sports and libre, where anything goes or B) I will extract more power, more excess wheight( me included) bigger brakes, bigger round units between legs and put s sign on the car. Kiss My arris.
Im not up set really
Enjoy your weekend every one.
Results 2morrow

What a day.
We have just got home.
I was a little nervous about today. I not sure why, but I think it had to do with it being a new venue to me and all that stigma to do with it being a "real track"
The car ran faultlessly today apart from being a little unsettled on the fron straight at 110mph.
That was cured by removing the gurney flap from the rear wing.
I won the class by 3 seconds and finished 13th overall. Beating a GT3 Porsche as well.
Nice to meet you Gary and will be in touch

Today saw us enter our 2nd to last event for this year at Eelmoor Driver training area near Farnborough, Hants
The day as like most of the UK was very wet and windy.
The noise police were out today and we got tested 4 times. Every time it was under the limit but it got to be a bit to much:Grrr  and then  and on my second timed run I let their atitude get the better of me. As I left the start I drove "normally" and then hooked 2nd and gave it some serious welly. I thought that if I am going to be thrown out for noise I might as well make it worth it. However the noise was not the issue but the fact I was still accelerating past the braking point and then chucked the car at the scenery. Luckily no damage.
Then a miricle happened and it stopped raining and the wind dryed the road.
The slicks were then put on the car and a blinding run up the course to get 1st in class by 3 seconds and 7th overall.
The final outing this year is a 1/2 day sprint at Lydden Hill nr Dover on 28th October
We have now won the sprint championship for our class and are 2nd overall out right

I have just done some math.Yes it hurt my head.
At our last outing at Lydden I did on my first flying lap a 49second (av 73mph).
This would have put me 5th on the grid for a race that day. Bare in mind that was on 1 flying lap and the race guys did 6-8 laps and the best they could manage was a 47.85. I was still on cold tyres.

Here is the  "to do" list for 2007

Fit 4 pot callipers ( 2nd gen, any one got some free or cheap cheap cheap)
Lose personal body weight. (Stay away from burgers etc)
Fit F/Glass bonnet ( this week)
Construct new front areo( Think MG touring car style)
Upgrade rally licence to race licence
Go back to Lydden Hill
:flamed the opposition

Rock On

Thats it folks
We have just done our last event for the year and finished 2nd in class behind a pesky escort. 1 second difference but I dont care.
After 12 events there was no panel damage, 1 water pump failure and 1 flatspotted tyre which I still used today:spank .
After tripping up and down all over the south east we have managed to get
1st in class and 2nd overall against some serious bits of kit. everything from a mini through to 400kg westfields and proper open wheelers.
Plus another sting in the tail for the big money spenders is that we might through a rule clarification get moved up to 1st overall yet.
Our cost for the year was just under 3k in a car that is worth less than what some people are spending on am engine or gearbox.
I am now having a beer and working out what to do next:Party
Cheers

Brian that is BRILLIANT.

I cannot understand why these cars are so scarce on our tracks?

You know, I will never forget going to watch Stacy Vickers at Silverstone. He led from the start, and before he got to the first corner, the annoucer said Mazda in 1st place" .

Some muppet sitting next to us said " a MAZDA??? How can a Mazda be in 1st?"

Well I wanted to go over there and tell him a thing or 2 about Mazda, and point out that it was a 1.3 !!  But one has to show restraint sometimes so I didnt do anything, except put up my MAzda RX-7 Banner !

(stacy won the race by miles !)

I PROMISE I will be out supporting you next year, Brian.

The plan for nexr year is to do a couple of sprints close to home as they are 2 good venues and also get my race licence as I am doing all this on my rally licence. Then I will enter a full race meeting more than likley at Lydden.
There are a couple of refinements in the offing such as changing the final drive for faster acceleration,:eek bigger brakes from a gen 2 turbo, more reduction in weight, alloy 3 gallon tank, the list goes on. I was up at 6 this morning writing this all down in the garage. the wife thinks I am madder than the mad hatter from planet mad wearing a hat with "I am Mad" written on it

The gearbox is nearly out and Ive figured where to put the ignition box that was on the passenger floor. I am onto some big callipers but I think putting the lights loom in is going to be harder than I thought. never mind ive got 6 months yet. Might have got one for nothing off a chap who also embraces all thongs rotary powered and has a pasion for engineering things himself rather than paying someone else to do it. Ooops better stop having a dig here or it will be a big hole that I cant get out of.

things needed or on the xmas wishlist are

8x 15" 114 pcd alloys 8" wide
5pt harness
race seat side mounting not bottom
MOT
8 Tarmac rally tyres to fit those rims

I hope santa has big sacks:eek:
Money is going to be short next year so only 3 outings are on the cards.
A track day to get used to the car again
A sprint iron out any bugs
And a rally at Longcross to see how close we can get to the "proper rally cars"

Gearbox is out and so is engine. The engine came out as I found a small leek at the back of the sump gasket so as I was there I decided to get that sorted as well.
At the end of Jan I am taking the car back to WGT just to get the carb sorted and the engine checked over as per the deal with Pip. The carb has  not been touched since it went on early this year.

The oil leak is repaired and the flywheel comes off on the weekend. I have collected the 4 pot front callipers and I am trying to get an adaptor kit from CP Racing in the states but as yet no reply to emails and I cant get their number. Shame as its part of my crimbo present and :Santa wants to deliver it.

The car is all back together running gear wise but a large hole has appeared in the back where  I took the tank and spare wheel well out. That along with brackets and clips that got in the way and putting on the poly carb window has saved a massive 35kg. I have a small 2 gallon tank to fit and a very small adjustment to the race clutch and its all set to rock and roll.
Just have to blow the dust off so I dont get my sponge dirty when I wash it

Its been a while since i posted as I havnt been racing much at all and weve had another little one. Blake  was born in May and is now taking up a lot of time but I love it.

Took the car out in April this year to Finish 2nd in class and 9th over all. Had a massive spin and bent a wheel on ! run so had to run on wets for the rest of the day. Not ideal but was very pleased just the same with the end result.

Got the car home and set about fitting C/R gear box,4.9 lsd, perspex rear window and taking some more weight out of the car.
Put the car on the scales and it was 800kg spot on with full tank of fuel.

The next event was in September and once again was second in class to the same Escort. Always the brides maid never the bride.
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-6381159914636510458
Unfortunatly I ran out of fuel on mt 1st timed run and this has had an effect on the engine. Basicly I stuffed it
The engine is now out and will be repaired in time for the next event April 2008. Plus Ive got some super soft hillclimb and sprint tyres comming for it so that will help as my tyres are hard compound that have gone off.

The engine is now out and with the engine reconditioner.
More power is to be extracted in an effort to beat the pesky escorts or sell the whole lot as its time to move on.
Some of you may know the bloke building the engine. ERA  aka Oldone. Top bloke and I TRUST him all the way

Engine is in bits and it has lost the chrome on the ally housings and some scoring and chatter marks. Massive loss of compression as well. Going for a bridgeport so keep those escorts at bay. Also got a 40ltr ally tank coming and some other bits for the next transition or evolution if you like.

I would but only I dont have time and Era will do a better job than me.
There is a task at hand for next year and that is to have the 7 beat a certain Escort and also claim fastest time of the day at a sprint in April. I was only 1.9 secs of it this year and there is some serious **** going on in the chassis department. Hence me busy with that while Era gets jiggy with the dremel.

Nice to see gen1s being used as meant.. Carl at Hayward is looking to prep me a gen1 to race in classics next year with a 220-240 port 13b.. can take 10% weight out and free brakes, shocks etc. XCan run +2" arches and plan is to use 17x9J rims to use Yoko A048s (control tyre)

I am building another car for a bloke.
Copy of some parts to mine but a bit more mental

Weight same as mine.     tad under 800kg
Engine, nearly complete, PP on injection
G/box                         Drenth 6spd sq
Diff                            Fully floating Atlas
Suspension                  Bilstien all round and adj on all for corners
Brakes                        Metro 6R4 discs and callipers
There is a wicked body kit on its way but i am not going to say what it is. I will show all when its on after it gets here from NZ...Made in carbon fibre.

The budget for this car is huge to take on westfeilds in sprints and hill climbs for  overall honours and run in the under 2ltr class

Hey Brian,
How do you get into the under 2 liter class?
Usual multiplication factor is 1.8 for the rotary,so even a 12a will be over 2 liter (1154 X 1.8 = 2077cc) ,do they have a different conversion factor for the sprints?
Regards
Carl

As far as the westys are concerned it wont e a problem as I am beating them in my car with the old engine. Onlt a couple remain and one of the is the SBD Vauxhall car
http://www.farnboroughdmc.org.uk/dim2007repa.php
http://www.farnboroughdmc.org.uk/DimancheSprint2007results.xls

Carl all the regs I get for events and in the blue book state engine size x 1.5 or plus 50%   1308 x 1.5 = 1962 ish

Did you also know that there is no equiv factor for rallying so you can in a rally run in the 1400cc class. I have known about this for a couple of years and the Lindop guys have just done it with there Escort, however I can see this cahnging in the next couple of years.

Been working on the swift today. Clutch needs replacing for the rally in June. 44 bolts, screws and electrical connections needed removing/undoing just to lift the engine. Total time spent so far is about 2 hours. Some of the uneducated chaps in my motor club have said to me I must love working on a car so simple. Ummmm no. I could take the engine and box out of my first FB race car in under an hour and with only 23 of the before mentioned fittings etc. Plus they were all easy to reach and you didn\'t have to take the skin off your hands.
I can hardly wait for those happy days to return.
